it's pretty funny hearing the announcer say he doesn't get it

it's like yeah, cause you're a f***in mouthpiece, that's an actual fan making a serious statement to ownership and everyone, guaranteed that's gonna be in the news tomorrow

There is no broadcast crew as HORRIBLE as Vancouver, absolutely terrible, both on TV and the radio. There are a lot of crews I don't like but none of them are outright biased and delusional like Vancouver. I strongly dislike Toronto and Montreal but their radio crews are both outstanding. They constantly complain about calls, say the game is rigged, etc. It's so unprofessional, they're basically state run media. I have no animosity anymore for the Canucks. I hated the Burrows/Bieksa team. The Canucks fans I've met were pretty solid and deservedly should be able to complain given how terribly their team is being managed.

Hate to say it but the funny thing is, there's a really good chance we lose to this team when we play them next.

1-0 loss, 20 save shutout and 0 for 5 on the power play. Garland runs Cal and Kaliyev with no response.

Totally off the rails in Vancouver, LOOOOOOOOOOOL!

Vancouver is such a joke! Jerseys on ice, Fire GM chants. They're like MTL west.

Are the Kings above them in the standings? Let me check. Yup! 1 win & 2X OTL!!! 4 points up on Van! Glad we aren't as bad as them. ;)

The Caps don't have a ton of draft pick success, certainly recently, to have sustained at least their regular season play all these years. When they have invested in their players, they've kept producing. And obviously Ovechkin is among the greatest of all time at what he does.

Just season after season, always in the conversation. There's been no crash and burn.

always leads back to that identity conversation imo

they're tough, take no shit, hit everything, lean on their offensive weapons.. starts at the top

There's some of that, but I'd say that the Kopitar/Doughty level guys on this team just aren't on the same level as Ovechkin. Or Crosby. There's just something extra with them that the Kings guys lack. Plus management, post-June 2014, has been crap. The full crash and burn starting in Sept 2018. The Caps and Pens have never had that happen. The stars, the coaches, the GM's, they've all been better than what the Kings have thrown out there.

I was curious about the bolded statement, so I looked over their record. Their 2016 was a miss, but the other misses were because they dealt their best picks. A solid draft produces 2 legit NHL players, and if you're lucky, a top 6 or top 4 player. Even if the Caps didn't always keep them, they've drafted well consistently.

2008: Carlson, Holtby
2009: Johansson, Orlov, Eakin
2010: Kuznetzov, Grubauer
2011: Miss (didn't pick until 4th round)
2012: Forsberg, Wilson, Stephenson, Carrick, Djoos
2013: Burakovsky, Sanford
2014: Vrana, Vanecek
2015: Samsonov, Siegenthaler
2016: Miss
2017: Miss (didn't pick until 4th round)
2018: Alexeyev, Fehervary
2019: McMichael (plus Protas and Leason have played games this year)
2020 & on: Lapierre looks like a solid gamble already

I think they actually have drafted well enough to sustain their success, and their management has done a good job of adding pieces like Dillon and Oshie to compliment that.

Most of those guys are long gone, and the recent ones still there aren't driving the boat. It's the old guys that keep the Caps relevant. It's the old guys, even post-Cup, that haven't quit. Ovechkin is even averaging more TOI than Kopitar. He's a winger, and no time on the PK, but the old man is still getting that shot off on a good team.

Friedman hearing that Bruce Boudreau will be the Canucks next coach.

Which means I guess that Benning isn't getting fired. Wouldn't a new GM want to name his own coach?

It was a long time coming. Unfortunately for us this might just ignite the Canucks. Team actually have a lot of talent and Green needed to go. He did what he could during his time and it was time to move on. I was actually loving the suckage but this move might just help that team. Even though Boudreau is another one of those recycled coaches that's been around.

Go Jets!

The fact there's a clown player on Toronto with the last name BUNTING tells me the universe has a sense of humor. Even funnier the NHL's landfill let him walk during the off season.

It's way better than this piece of shit:

The Burger King Jerseys are better.
Tampa's jersey reminded me of these

Benning is gone too. Smyl and the twins are taking over on an interim bases, you know because hiring past superstars to run your team always works out right?

about time the Flyers turfed AV

He should have never been hired. Fletcher should have been canned as well (homer should have been gone years ago. As long as he's riding a chair upstairs, this team makes the same mistakes) Fletchers off season moves for the most part , were questionable and made the team older and slower. I don't trust him to pick another coach, hopefully Dave Scott (comcast, ownership group) lets him go and lets a new GM take over before a coach is selected.

Yeo taking over for now, I think they'll give him some time. This team doesn't have the talent to compete for 60 with skilled teams, leaning much too hard on Hart.
So I think they'll see how things fare by trade deadline and start the moves. I've heard on some podcasts that they like Tocchet. We'll see, the coaching carsosel could change by summer.

I didn't have the Flyers a playoff team preseason and still don't. They need to do a rebuild, the right way. RUmors that Giroux didn't sign a contract because he might want to go to a contender. I think they'll do that for him, if they can.
Hart, Couturier, Provy,Sanheim , Farabee and Frost I'd keep.
