I sent a text to a buddy, telling him "Father Time" signed another one year deal. His response to me was, " How does it feel to know 'Father Time' was a sophomore when you were a senior in HS." I said damn old, lol

Pretty sure he was a '97 draft pick. I graduated HS in 1998.

Actually, he doesn't make me feel old: quite the opposite actually. As long as guys like him and Chara are playing, it's like I'm still watching 90s hockey.

If Arizona can get their act together (not likely) his next contract would line up nicely with them being a few years from contending. He won't finish his career in Toronto.

NHLPA strongly suggesting players get vaccinated or potential loss of pay. And since you need to be vaccinated to cross the border, that is something the owners of each team will have to address.

Unvaccinated Players Could Miss Games and Paychecks (And Other Blackhawks Bullets)

According to Kate Strang and Michael Russo of The Athletic, the NHLPA is urging players to be vaccinated ahead of the 2021-22 season and that players could be at-risk of losing game checks if they remain unvaccinated and are the reason for schedule changes if an outbreak of cases happens.

Good.

I could see it, Matthews on a max contract to Arizona. Being a contender with a max contract would be tough, but if their rebuild goes well they could be a perennial playoff team at least with him at 1C.

That being said, if he went there, I think it would help them attract other top players.

Cap situation looking pretty tight for Vancouver. About 11M left and they need to sign Pettersson and Hughes. I suspect both these guys want more than 5.5M/year.

How have they even managed this? Their team is not very good.
Signed Myers. Signed that terrible Louis Eriksson contract also. Gave Demko that extension for some reason. Plus Luongo is taking up 3M in cap space this year.

Why did Detroit buy out Neilsen. He was in final year of his deal and now they have dead cap next year (although very very little). Why not just bury him for a year and wash your hands? I don't see why Detroit needs the cap space they now have (over $19M according to cap friendly) ....unless Skinner plus Eichel.
