There is no tangible reason for this, but I feel better about Kaliyev every time Caufield scores. Kaliyev was actually ranked one spot ahead of Caufield by CSB at #7. Best shots in the draft. Caufield dropped because of size concerns while Kaliyev dropped due to being an aloof dork. Both continue to score wherever they play.

He's still my favorite prospect in the pipeline. I know it seems like Byfield is a non-starter but I really hope Kaliyev is near untouchable as well in any trade talks.

So to answer your question, I think the Kings could have a Caufield as soon as next season.

I've been super high on Kaliyev ever since before the draft. I remember a few months prior to his draft there were talks he could go as high as top 15. I also remember getting into a pretty major tiff with a few people when we drafted Bjornfot over Kaliyev late in the 1st.

He very clearly has the skillset of a high 1st rounder and fell for whatever reason. But yes, 100% agreed, he's probably our most purely skilled offensive prospect in the pipeline.

I listen to tsn radio Montreal TSN Montreal and ottawaand toronto because its summer and nhl related content is hard to come by and the carey price hype train is back in full effect. he's an awesome goalie for sure, but the media trips over themselves with they price worship. They cant help themselves. So you cant blame Montreal fan for their elitest attitude when this is what the media is drilling into their heads 24/7.
