If true, get the buyout calculator on CapFriendly working! It also helps the Wild get out of protection issues for the expansion draft.

This will enable the Avs to protect Makar, Toews, Girard and Graves (4x4x1 scenario)..

Feels like only yesterday Minnesota was signing those two to those absurd contracts. Looked like shit then and lo and behold, they never went anywhere with them.

did not expect Suter to be bought out...there is our LHD if he will sign for 1 or 2 years. Likely will want to go to a contender
Didn't expect the Suter part either. They'd be on the books for almost $15million from 2022~2025 (3) seasons for these two buyouts, if true.

I'm not surprised that they were eventually bought out, but I didn't think they would've been bought out at this point considering I thought both were playing at a decent level. Years 3 and 4 are going to be killer for the Wild

Parise has been 4th line level for a couple seasons. Suter still is top 4 easy

If Minnesota is doing this just so they can throw more money at Kaprizov, only for him to STILL return to the KHL, lol.

So they save around $10m on the cap this year? I think they're going all in on Eichel to keep Kaprisov happy, try and win this year, and then somehow worry about the following 3 seasons when they cross that bridge.

Against the worst division in hockey, it's not too hard to be #1 when you only face 7 teams. And I don't see Marty re-signing there. He'll want a big payday and they'll need to replace him .

It was excellent in the playoffs too, especially against Colorado.

They probably viewed it like Matt Boldy on his ELC + Parise's dead cap hit being better than Parise being in the lineup.

Suter is a surprise though, although there were rumblings last summer that management wasn't thrilled with the complacent atmosphere in the locker room and Suter's name seemed to be mentioned. I suppose this enables them to protect Dumba for the expansion draft.

I know everyone is saying that this is so they can throw all of the money at Kaprizov but the Wild are going to roll with dead cap of $13 and $15MM during his 25, 26 and 27 year old seasons? Everyone talks about not winning with multiple $10MM cap hits: can you do it with $15MM that isn't even a player?

Could Guerin flip a potential headache for a nice haul of picks/prospects and maybe a decent player similar in age to Kaprizov? Kempe is only seven months older than him. Idea here being that prospects/picks might be able to perform on ELCs during these gnarly dead cap years. They've already got two 1st round picks in this draft as well.

Ignore LA's history with Russian players and tell me if you'd be interested and what would you give up?

oh man would never happen, but Vilardi + Kempe + Grundstrom/Wagner/Lizotte/Lemieux + Pick

Think you are looking at 8OA for starters. Kempe. One of the higher end forward prospects or Faber. That shit platter of 4th liners is a non-starter for them.

Is Dumba even worth all this headache? They lost Tuch who has become a better player every season and this 15 million is a total killer. There is no way you can ice a contender with that amount of dead space. I just don’t see it.
