replays seem low on "dejected corey perry" moments unfortunately, plus he was on the ice instead of the bench to close it out

this might be more work than expected

they showed a close up side shot of perry shortly after they lost. IIRC
yeah i think i caught a frame or two of that but it really didn't capture the crushing defeat in the way i want

i'd hate to be mistaken for a corey perry fan yknow

Once it was down to the final four I only wanted to make sure that VGK didn't win and Montreal secondarily. I was kind of hoping NYI would win but I'm content with the result. I'm indifferent to Tampa Bay but I guess I can see why they have their haters. The only team in the league that I absolutely loathe at this point is VGK. That includes the Ducks by the way. I do get a kick out of the chip on the shoulder of many Ducks fans though.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching maybe five minutes of the Cup Finals. Glad the season is over. Hate to see Tampa win but how easily they got rid of Montreal makes the Vegas loss that much funnier and enjoyable.

The last five minutes of game five were pretty intense. Other than that... snoozefest.

Must be nice to rest all season and then play in the playoffs when you’re all fresh and ready to go. He’s an asshole regardless.
When you have a roster that can make the playoffs easily without its best player, these things are possible.

The NHL needs to do something about LTIR rules and maintaining a competitive salary cap balance between teams in the playoffs.

How is TBs situation on the expansion draft? You'd think they would be a team that will lose a really good piece. I sure as heck hope so. I'm already annoyed that VGS is exempt.

What the NHL really needs to do is make rules about the Salary Cap and home state/province taxation. Hedman makes the same amount as Doughty in real dollars, along with a cap saving of more than 3 million for his team. There is no way that teams in CA, NY, or all of Canada at least can compete with that when it comes to Free Agency, whereas teams in Florida can constantly retain their talent and make huge trades for Cap. If TB was LA, they would never be able to even afford Hedman or Kucherov.

The NHL needs a league wide Universal cap exchange rate which takes into account taxation for players. This is ridiculous.

I dunno. Sounds like the Kings need to be more effective lobbying in Sacramento.

Hockey players aren't the only smart business people moving to Florida.

I don't think the NHL wants to get involved in balancing the equation for teams in NY, LA, etc.

San Francisco residents and tech companies are moving to Florida at an unprecedented rate

It's ridiculous that you'd advocate for political action over a simple change to balance the league. There's nothing Tampa Bay did to DESERVE this huge advantage, and the fact they have it and have won twice so far with a team that would be sky high over cap in any other part of the NHL is ridiculous.

How many times do we always hear how advantageous LA is because "sunny beach city" and it doesn't work out that way. The tax thing is a minor advantage. They don't play all their games in Florida and have to deal with taxes in every state they play in.
But really when it comes down to it, bitching about taxes in California is old hat. The tax situation here is the way it is because we consistently put the same people back in office every election and then complain about what they do while in office, then put them back in again.

While it's not that big of a deal, Florida has what LA has. But at better prices.

I grew up in Florida and lived there about 20 years. It is not even close to Los Angeles as far as culture/things to do. Its more like an even more square Orange County. Not a bad thing for players with families though.
I was just down there and prices are getting crazy there also for housing, food, etc.

I agree with you there. In reality "taxes" is just a stupid talking point to get people angry for a fairly insignificant reason. I've lived in California my whole soon to be 46 years of life and never once have I thought to myself "taxes are making this place unlivable".

The price of housing on the other hand...

I heard the opposite. But yes house prices in Florida are rising but even thought they're rising they still have really nice areas for affordable prices.

Like you look at Sylmar and granada Hills for example. Crappy areas but house prices are like 600k + for 2000 square-foot house that's completely outdated.

You know what screw the hockey talk. So Cal prices are ridiculous. Especially gas taxes oml.

That actually sounds like a steal. 1600 sqft houses in West Hills are selling for over 900k.

Businesses lobby politicians for competitive advantages all the time. Why should hockey franchises be any different?

One point I will make here is I am not in favor of any team getting a venue to play in, which is paid for by the taxpayers.

It's going to be interesting to see what the Florida state and Miami city governments do about older condos which clearly do not meet their existing building codes. That is going to get very expensive for the developers, which basically own most local governments.

The Kings went to the Western Conference Finals three years in a row, and won two Stanley Cups in the hard cap era. Didn't seem to bother them then.
