Friedman said Caleb Jones (seth's brother) could be the player heading the other way. He noted Hawks have been pursuing Seth Jones and trading for his brother might sway his decision.

You don’t often hear Edmonton and preferred destination in the same sentence without the word not.
Yeah plus he’s from Winnipeg so he’s familiar with living in the middle of nowhere.True. The Athletic mentioned that Keith wants to be closer to his son, who lives about 1 hour by plane from Edmonton.
In the first three games of the Stanley Cup Final, Montreal has been outscored 14-5. They don't have any business even being on the ice with Tampa Bay.
Tampa Bay shouldn't be on the ice 18M over the CAP
I get the feeling they will try to go down the same path next year with Hedman going on LTIR with surgery.
I get how teams will work with the rules to ice the best possible product, but watching Kucherov skate around just fine weeks before the start of the playoffs is wrong.
Make LTIR still count for the cap. Any contracts still on LTIR is fine but anyone moving forward with this counts to the cap.
They could make teams have to be cap compliant during the postseason or not allow players that were on LTIR during the regular season play during the postseason? Plenty of solutions...I'm not sure there's much the NHL can do about teams using LTIR to circumvent the cap. If a player says he can't play, what can the NHL really do? Teams could always have the injury claim corroborated by their paid medical staff.
I don't doubt that Kucherov or Stamkos had injuries, but the length at which the stayed on LTIR is what's in question.

Per Dave Pagnotta, Phil Kessel and Nate Schmidt are available for trade.
AFAIK there is no player salary in the post season, so what exactly is being capped?

Yeah, that's why the cap doesn't matter come the playoffs. One of a plethora of reasons why something like a 1st overall pick tournament among non-playoff teams fans come up with to get rid of tanking would never happen. Those players aren't playing for free. They don't care about some 18 year old that might take their job. Anyway, the Hawks and Kings did it before. One successfully, one not. I'm sure other teams have done it. This TB one is sort of like when NJ signed Kovalchuk though. Everyone is bending the rules, and then someone comes along and just flaunts it. Oh, we can't get rid of Tyler Johnson? Umm, uh oh. Great, all of a sudden one of our guys making a ton is hurt.
Now, most teams could not survive losing Kucherov for 56 games. Certainly not to the point where they're 7 points from 1st overall in the league. TB just has a ridiculous amount of depth.
Speaking of TB, everyone else does hate their announcer too, right? The guy that just screams all the time? Hopefully it's not just me.
No joke, I'd take them both.
Iafallo - Kopitar - Kessel
Kempe - Byfield - Arvidsson
Andersson - Vilardi - Brown
Theodore - Doughty
Bjornfot - Roy
Anderson - Walker
Very easy solution is make your playoff game day roster need to be cap compliant
doesn't screw LTIR, just makes sure your hired mercs can't play if your big guns come back.
You do not want Kessel on the top line. He is a PP specialist and that is it. As good defensively as Kopitar is, asking him to carry Kessel for top line minutes is not right.
