This never occurred to me before and now I'm mad at the NHLs stupid playoff format.Good result! Don't care if Vegas wins the division. Our prize for winning 1st last season was the longest air mile travel of all the playoff teams. Get 2nd, and you stay within your division.
Lovely play by Bouchard tooOh my god, was Hanafin Podkolzin's man there?
I remember Bieksa talking about it on the HNIC panel last year. He said that the Canucks 2nd round playoff with Nashville in 2011 really took a toll on the team. This never occurred to me before and now I'm mad at the NHLs stupid playoff format.
Would be interesting if the 1st seeds for each division can pick which team they want to play in the 1st round. That would be spicy. This never occurred to me before and now I'm mad at the NHLs stupid playoff format.
i would love to see a 2 -2 -3 format. None of the 5-6-7 back and forth for 1 game and home ice means moreWould be interesting if the 1st seeds for each division can pick which team they want to play in the 1st round. That would be spicy.
Oh heck no, let Vegas and Edmonton battle it out in the first round. Rather take one of the wild card teams over those two any day. Who cares about travel, give me the higher probability of advancing any day.Good result! Don't care if Vegas wins the division. All the off-season chatter about how the Jets were falling out and the Preds and Oilers would be dominant, and after a dozen games it's not shaking out that way at all. I don't know how many of you listen to Kouleas on SiriusXM, but he basically wrote off the Jets and was pumping Preds and Oilers tires all of September.Preds and Oil lost.
Nice.
who wants to take a guess on which fanbase's board is discussing Lankinen's success the most (outside of our own).
As noted by the celebration a few posts earlier on the none goalWatching Ovechkin's march to the goal record has been nostalgic. If his early career/prime was played in this era I'm pretty confident he would've come close to breaking single season goal records as well.
The Caps being good is a slight bonus because it looks like he's having fun again.
Again ? Man.... Oilers have the worst PK in the leaguePreds and Oil lost.
Nice.
You can say that again!Holloway, Broberg and McLeod--all former Oiler first rounders, who had to get out of Dodge to revive their NHL careers.
'Player Development' is just such a vital factor in a franchise's success these days.

Ekholm and Bouchard got burned bad on the Eichel goal as well.Lovely play by Bouchard too
When you sign your top guys to longer term deals, it means that you will be constantly turning over the bottom of the roster. Just the reality of the sport.
It's a challenge to constantly hit in free agency.
Also proof the Sportsnet panel is delusional. After that game ended they were showing "highlights" as to why Skinner deserves to be on team Canada. I'm not even kidding...
