That sound you hear is half the GM's in the league calling Montgomery to see if he'll work for them.

Boston should have traded half the team before they fired him.
Sure but they always fire the coach first, next will be the GM as this is the year the bruins don't make the playoffs and their immediate future looks really bleak and not much in the pipeline.

This article has them as the 3rd best near outlook for the next 3 seasons just ahead of Pittsburgh and it's hard to argue against it.

We are ranked 17th BTW which seems reasonable.

Hell, they should have fired Sweeney first. That was a master class in poor off-season contracts. Dicking around with Swayman and having him miss camp and look like a sieve certainly isn't helping.

Man it sucks for the Sens having to play the Oilers after an embarrassing shutout to the Habs last night.

He's actually looked much better as of late
tonight 2 apples 16minutes block 3 shot attempts and a takeaway +2
Against Travis Though.

He's looked like the same old garbage every other game, forcing him on drai is the exact same things we tried repeatedly here. And then again forcing mik on ep, it doesn't work.
Only time until the oilers (&Blackhawks) do the same thing we did and cut bait.

GM Steve Staios is meeting with the media today. It will probably be the usual quarter season meeting GMs tend to do but you almost hope they fire Travis Green and hire Jim Montgomery.

Yikes. Kind of feel bad because he looked really promising early in his career and is another example of a player not developing on a shit team with shit management and shit coaches. His numbers don't look too bad this year though.
Always hardest on the first batch of kids of a rebuild when they arrive. Not unlike Bo here or Larkin in Det, both made the PO in their rookie years but didn't later (unless you count the play in for Bo, which was unusual). Larkin has gone 8 seasons without the PO since his rookie year in 2016.

Honestly, yeah, they kinda did.

They thought they were going to get a 70 point centre to get the most out of Pastrnak and a legit Top 4 guy. They were very wrong.

We dodged two bullets with those contracts.

Lindholm started well, then it was a sharp drop, rather unfortunate.

Zadorov...I still miss him, even if he was just a bottom pair guy who can shift up every now and then. His swag and confidence in front of the media are a refreshing sight, in these days when media reports are becoming more and more sterile. His price tag, looking at it now, does seem unreasonable for what he brings. But again, I am letting sentimentality getting the best of me.

Initially I was gonna say Mont's firing was a bit too soon, as I thought despite the struggles the Bruins were doing ok. Then I saw their latest standing/record and...yeah that's a big yikes.

Zadorov is one of the best timed UFAs in recent memory, and all in a relatively short period of time that crucially included the well-watched Playoffs where a couple bad angle pucks on net turn into critical goals, and a few bone rattling hits while being 6'7 and BAM! $30MM bag secured.

Most of his tenure with the Canucks he looked like a guy who was probably already making about what he should be making at 3.8MM.

Massive scarcity of top 4 Dmen. So teams will pay to get whom they think is one.
