I mean, we can all aspire to be better hockey fans than the dumbest people in Toronto, right?

TSN Turning Point in the SB.

55 yard FG followed by fumble inside the SF 10 yard line.

SF to be crowned SB Champs.
It was funny I never bet on football because I don't follow it like I used to but this morning I laughed at myself because I thought f*** it put 500 down on San Francisco

I don’t care for football but Mahomes is like Tiger Woods in contention on a Sunday for me where if he’s in a big playoff game, I’m turning that shit on to watch a legend cook

I simply don’t understand how the NFL is so popular.

That was a good-ish game but I find the average mid-season NHL game (or games from pretty much every other sport) so much more entertaining.
It's a triumph of marketing, and what other game gives you so many opportunities to raid the fridge, hit the john, or stare at your phone during play stoppages. It's only rivalled by baseball but baseball doesn't have the theatrics and orchestrated violence.

Replace shots of the cheerleaders with Taylor Swift and her minions...

Hockey and soccer are generally played without too many interruptions. NFL football is just rough to watch sometimes even when the game is good.

It's just football in general in the US, at all levels. The amount of money in college football is stupid.

Hell, there's high schools in America that spend tens of millions on football stadiums, some nearing $100 mil.

I feel like the NFL is sports for people who don’t like sports.

If you don’t like actually focusing on a game and only want to watch 11 minutes of play in 3 hours and spend the rest of it BSing with your friends and eating food, I guess it’s perfect.

Football is unique in North American sports by setting itself as a weekly event. It’s on a set of specific days every week (apart from the bye week) and has made itself appointment viewing. With a short schedule, every game has a feel of importance and every playoff game is a game 7.

That it’s dreadfully dull, only there to advertise to you is a feature, and the actual action is limited is a feature. Gather your friends and family around and only pay attention in 30 second spurts spread over 5 minutes. Lots of time for catching up, idle chatter, bathroom breaks, and eating. It’s one of the few universal social events in America.
