Hence why they might trade for Pettersson. Or an offer sheet. This is the thing, so many teams (29) can do an offer sheet and that is extremely bad for the Canucks.Oh absolutely. After my viewing session, there is no way you want Tage as the 1C of a legitimate team.
People are complaining about Petey. Trying watching Tage closely for a couple games. Yikes.
And Benson is gonna be so good. If he picks up his skating a little bit, he is Brayden Point.
Young GM's might not because of the ramifications around the "old boys club" of being ostracized later but there are many old GM's, like Davidson, who are not GM's and close to retiring or taking on a "mentor" type role where breaking the "code" will not have an affect on the team that he does that for.
Never before have there been so many of the old boys club on the verge of retirement so offer sheets might become the last legacy that turns a franchise around. If Buffalo or Columbus did this they would build a statue for that GM/President and get into the HoF.
I hope fans realize that Pettersson's numbers are better than Eichel's so his contract could easily bury the Canucks and use up most of his best years building a team encumbered with clause contracts aging veterans and no cap space for 4 years more. Other teams have more younger star level players under contract control than the Canucks. For the Canucks it is a rebuild, for others it is the next or last step in a build because all the other pieces have been there for 2+ years already.
No prospects playing now to replace Miller or even Boeser who IMO does little other than stand there to score a goal. A valuable skill but not worth the 6.67 million he gets paid especially when the team ran off a player with just as much goal scoring ability and more useful than Boeser. Ever see Boeser scoring when not playing on the PP or with Miller and Petey? Or set up play after play to a player with stone hands like Kuz was doing.
