One of the main reasons I really fell in love for baseball is for the fact you can’t run a clock out. You could be up 9-3, but you still have to get 27 outs instead of time wasting.

Football makes me pull my hair out just for this alone.
You mean the NFL, or did you mean soccer?

NFL.

Euro football does the same thing though.

Soccer is just so bad sometimes. Team could be up 1-0, and be parking the bus and you automatically know there will be the predictable routine of watching the turtling team take a shitload of dives or go down feigning cramps at the 75th minute. It's agonizing and a reason why I will turn off my TV.

Refs are supposed to tack on time at the end but sometimes just add the bare minimum.

Is college American football that much better than the NFL? American football is just slow. That's the issue with the sport. It's three and a half hours, and the clock only runs for 60 minutes. This means that there are like 2 hours of nothing happening. Baseball games, in contrast, last 2:42 minutes, and they've tried to shorten the game length.
i don't know. like i said, i don't understand it. it seems like chaos to me.

i am fully convinced it exists though.

I didn't mean it in a corrective type of way it was more coming across as inquisitive as it would be interesting for instance a poll to see how many people would like that type of rule change. Just a simple yes or no without delving into what it improves or doesn't.
yeah, no actual posters were annoyed during this exchange.

i don't really have an opinion on whether the changes are good or bad until i watch them in action.

yeah for sure :).. but i find that interesting as it wouldn't be a rule that 'plays out' in a game situation, it's pretty static. starting the next game short handed, i'm not sure what insight could be gained from watching that one.

i mean you could see how the ends of games transfer into a simple run the clock out scenario more than it is now, and for longer, provided it's a 2+ goal differential - but transformations like that could take some time. could also see a trailing team let off the gas a bit being concerned over penalties.

Has Morgan Rielly been arrested yet?
don't speculate

an arrest will be announced with due process and investigation conclusion. don't name names

The 3x3 shows us that the coach will find a way to play it safe in the end (remember 3x3 was good at first), I believe the only solution is a 3pts system. regular / OT winner - 3 pts, SO winner - 2 pts, Loser in OT / SO - 1 pt.
Three points for a regulation win has been proven not to work and this is why it was unanimously voted down by all the GM's in the league.
A lead going into the third encourages teams to play defense the whole period when there is three points at stake.

Eddie Shore would put a stop to that.

Not trying to challenge you but curious how that would be true. Shouldn't teams still be playing defense the whole period when there are 2 points on the line? Are they trying to go for style points on the win instead of securing two points?

Tangentially related to the NHL but it's good to know that Fanatics is also producing a terrible product for other leagues.

Fanatics has been good for fans in the sense that we now have zero reason to feel guilty over buying off-brand jerseys... they'll probably be better quality than what the official shops are putting out nowadays. I'd say the company is a blight to sports but owners made their own beds in an effort to save a few bucks. So screw them, rather send the money directly to Chinese manufacturers or buy a generic jersey in a Costco blowout.

Mayers might be the dumbest man on TV just from today alone. First with his Reilly suspension take and then saying the Oilers would avoid a tough 1st round matchup if we had the old 1-8 format. They'd get the Avs in the 1st round if it started today..

Gasdik/Mayers combo is ear poison. I feel bad for David Amber having to work with them.
