It's definitely a good situation for them that Murphy is fine with being a mentor.

Tough call as it's important to have veteran D to insulate the youngsters.

I'm a firm believer though that with Jones already the #1 RD they should be looking to double the top2/3 rounds of picks in a retool/rebuild and getting free agents looking to get top4 from btm pairings shouldn't be too hard. If they got value for Murphy this year and then Trouba next and still had Jones and the ability to fill it through free agency that's how you can fast track a 7yr rebuild and actually develop the youngsters properly
Sure maybe but I think they screwed up with the second overall this year and should have taken Demidov.

I also think that they need to move on from Hall and Bertuzzi sooner rather than later and hope full Nazar develops for them but aside from Bedard, Nazar and maybe a couple of their Dmen Their drafting the last couple of years is iffy at best.

Horvat. Nuke has played well in his last 3 1/3 years where hes only played 75% of those games. Horvats been producing for far longer and actually has an above ppg season and a couple 30 goal seasons in a more important position

Horvat. If you put him on the wing and let him cherrypick a little he'd be a better Nicushkin. And I don't think you can put person issues aside when they derail a player's career.

Rangers with another sloppy effort in a 7-5 home loss to the Kraken, who don't score seven on anybody.

Watched a bit of the second and third.....man-o-man this Rangers team is 'soft' right now. They don't hit anybody and seemed to be turning away from a lot of checks.

Something has to give in Gotham. They weren't expecting this in the front office.

The simple answer is Horvat. But if off-ice issues isn't a problem at all, then I prefer Nichushkin on this team based on team needs and contract.

But overall, there's no question that Horvat is better. One thing with Horvat is his season to season consistency. Horvat has scored at a 26+ goal pace since 2017. He's put up 3 straight 30+ goal seasons and produces on the PP. All of tha from the C position. Too bad he isn't better defensively but still I think you can win a Cup with him as your 2C.

With Nuke, not sure how he’d handle the mess of the Benning era. Bo was a solid person during his time here.

Horvat easily. Because he was a valuable player for the team that drafted him. Was a pro coming straight out of juniors and never looked back. Contrast that with Nuke and his sojourn back the KHL and then needing a fresh start to get his head on straight. To say nothing of his self-destructive tendencies catching up with him after he had finally figured it out.

Great trade for Colorado.

Feels like a very iffy return for SJ.
Overall decent asset management acquiring Blackwood for a 6th then getting a 2nd. But I feel like they really could’ve squeezed a 1st for taking on Georgiev.

It took Colorado a while to move on from Georgiev but they eventually got it done...hard to go on with that level of goaltending and have your team not turn on you....but now they don't have any excuses to fall back on.

An upgrade for the Avs, but how much of one? They gain Blackwood, I would rather have Lankinen, and the Canucks are about to get Demko back. The Canucks are going to have one of the very best tandems in the NHL with Demko returning, massive edge Vancouver.

This season in a small amount of data Annunen and Georgiev were indeed brutal but longer term numbers suggest there is no real upgrade here. Wedgewood/Blackwood tandem has been tried before. It was also disastrous.

I know Georgiev had a good 22-23 season, but other than that, he's never passed the eye test or the vibe test.

Yeah, my impression of Georgiev in NYR was always 'journeyman backup' and then he had a really good first year in Colorado and I thought maybe I was wrong ... before he absolutely tanked after that.

Blackwood is a bit of the reverse - guy who came in and was getting 'next great Canadian goalie' hype when he broke in with NJ ... and then lost it for a couple years before re-finding his form in SJ. But he's a guy who does pass the eye/feels test when playing well, as he is right now.
