Could be they want to play for Guerin. That team USA relationship was supposedly why Fitz had a lockdown on the job here until he didn’t.
Oh I think that’s a reason too but I don’t think that alone would be enough or that they would be doing that if they thought Quinn will be leaving.

Even outside of the context of that olympic team, Larkin and Brady have been really good friends with Quinn for years.

The frustration thing is it feels like if the devils had a good season and/or acquired Quinn we’d probably be on all of these trade lists.

Now even if we bounce back this season we may have missed the boat.
Tbh it might just accelerate the inevitable if we can't win in the next few years. If that happens we have to tear it down anyways and start over.

The last 3 years have been a disaster in so many ways it's hard to keep track lmao.

Agreed, but if you right the ship going forward and add Quinn there’s absolutely hope that we’re a sought after destination relatively quickly.

One thing making this whole forcing trades to where you want thing more possible is the cap exploding and everyone having space. With the length of NHL contracts it will take a bit for contracts to catch up and then should restrict this stuff a bit more.

Does still feel like a landscape shift that may be permanent but bigger rosters, the importance of depth, and a more restrictive cap should stop the NHL from ever coming close to the NBA.

you're not actually claiming that a potential fall off in THREE years is a reason not to steal Brady are you? What i wouldnt give to have the run the panthers have had and then "fall off". lol
Did you read what I wrote? At no point did I say that. Not only did I not say that but argued why I’m not sure they will even fall off.

I don’t believe Brady going to the Panthers is a coincidence. Sure he may have had some other teams on his trade list. However, with two remaining years left on his contract who’s going to give up major assets for a player who probably wouldn’t give a guarantee to resign. I bet my bottom dollar he forced Ottawa’s hand in trading him to Florida. It’s obvious he wanted to go play with his brother. If Billy G., doesn’t get Quinn’s signature on a new contract by July first, I’d be a little concerned if I was him.

Like it less now. Wild work to get this top 10 protected. Top 2 or 5 I could understand

Like it a little less but the top 10 protection might still turn into a unprotected in 2030. It’s very possible and maybe even likely that if Florida have fallen off by 2029 they won’t be good for a few years after that.

Best case they fall off in 2029 into the bottom 10 thinking they can bounce back in 2030 but they don’t and Ottawa ends up with a top 5 pick in 2030 and a high 2nd

As @Captain3rdLine said, I doubt all these US players have Minny on their trading list if they think Quinn is leaving… It’s an interesting point.
And yet, no rumors of his signing there or working towards a deal yet, not a peep.

I just dont see Quinn signing in Minny

Wasn’t there a lot of chatter last month from insiders about Quinn staying in MIN being the most likely outcome?

I mean maybe Minnesota's a red herring to throw people off the obvious bias toward warm-weather winners but I'll believe it when I see it...it does sound like his teammates on USA might know something about Quinn's intentions too.

Its ridiculous. He is a complimentary piece that got a super star return for his name.

Maybe the most overrated player in the league.
And yet it almost certainly works out for Florida because of the brother connection and because he's just another cog in the machine and not the savior he'd get asked to be in some other places.

If he thought he was staying they would actually be in Minnesota. Yet none of them are

The wild are a stalking horse. No one wants to go there, they just know Billy G is desperate.

I see it as the other side. Quinn is there now and he can be convinced but Guerin has to go out and get some guys
