10 day layoff for the Jets + Habs coming off playing high stakes games including 3 straight on the brink.
The long layoff explains a flat game 1. By tonight’s game, Montreal played 11 in 19 and manhandled them tonight. With their best defenseman out of the lineup too.

Nah, Montreal actually has some fight and real competitors, even with a quarter of the talent (outside Price). Not the sad sacks currently wearing the maple leaf. A bit of perseverance and fortitude go a long way.

I hope this sweep stings even more for Marner/Matthews/Rielly/Keefe etc. Most knew Winnipeg would be an easy out. Yet even they managed to win a round.

Leafs and Oilers continue to be the biggest jokes of the league.

I can’t see that happening TBH. They just don’t care.

This Canadiens team was 18th out of 31. worst record of any playoff team. Coldest team down the stretch.
Why even bother watching any regular season games?

Oh they were clearly the better team, just surprised it was a sweep. I had Habs in 6, but that was before Scheifele went down.

Just think: Habs could have been eliminated by us in 5, and now, despite the late start in the North division playoffs, they get to rest before the 3rd round.

Unbelievable!
You have to commend their fight. They could’ve rolled over down 3-1 and say “oh well, a higher seed beat us”.

They haven’t lost since being faced with elimination.

We rolled over being up 3-1!

Bergevin sold his soul during that game 5 OT intermission.

proof that sometimes good things happens to bad GM's

Then what's the point of talent?
Talent is essential as long it finds playoff balls. Our guys still looking.

Montreal is limited but they put up a fight and two teams of greater skill layed down instead of fight back.

Without Carey Price, the Habs are Buffalo

Rust is worse than rest is good in the playoffs. The last 6 times now that a 4-0 team met a 4-3 team, the 4-3 team won, sometimes in a sweep.

Habs are facing the winner of Avs-Vegas, a series that will probably go 7. I think the winner of that series (likely Vegas) will have almost a free ride to the finals.

Watching the Avs/Vegas series or the Boston Series or the Tampa Series vs this series...it's like they were playing different sports. So much more intensity, speed and aggression compared to the North.

The Habs are coming off 11 games in 19 nights. They could definitely use an extended break, especially with Petry injured. That's more beneficial to them than having to play basically every other night straight into round 3

If you're Vegas, you end it in 6 and hope the Tampa series goes the distance so you can have a few days off without having to travel

You’re acting like this is one of the all time historic goaltending performances. Price is playing excellent. Not exactly otherworldly ala 2010 Halak though. He hasn’t been called upon to be.

The jets were outshot 41-16 tonight.

I would say Korpisalo was more otherworldly last year vs us than Price was this year.

I get that, but if I were the Habs I'd want to keep rolling. 7 straight wins? Fans in the stands? Underdog story? I'd want to play every night.

Not sure time to plan and think about what they've done so far is their ideal situation
