Interesting looking couple..........

1. Had to check it out.

2. First post by a Sharks fan made me laugh out loud - "Deflate your hype balloons, the Kings are gonna be worse than last season."

3. I've said it a hundred times and I'll say it again - why do members on our board DEFEND THE KINGS ON THE MAIN BOARD. Who gives a ****???
boredom mainly

Hah you totally made me go look too. I didn't read a lot, but I smelled a lot of fear. All I gotta say is you don't know whether your team has the right stuff to win it all until they actually do. A bunch of bluster and bravado from fans of teams who have collapsed in the playoffs repeatedly in recent years.
until someone other than LA/CHI wins the west, i'm not taking stock in whatever nonsense people are peddling about "contenders" - and as far as im concerned, the east is better overall.

That's why I dismiss talks of "Cup window" from those people. Let's be real. Does the window actually exist if your team hasn't actually climbed through it? Is St Louis in a Cup window? Or were they never really capable to begin with? Or the Wild, another sexy pick? Everyone's penciling in the Ducks to win the Cup because they lost in the WCF in 7 last season and the 2nd round in 7 the year before. How do we know that they haven't peaked as a team? I mean, the Canucks lost in 7 in the SCF in 2011, so Stanley Cup champ next, right? The Ducks are very good, but how battle tested were they really with their series wins over Dallas, Winnipeg and Calgary the last 2 seasons? Those teams were completely inexperienced. They collapsed with a capital C in do or die games versus legit teams. So is their Cup window now or will we look back in 5 years and see they never climbed through either? Time will tell as all teams have to show and prove on the ice and win the last game of the season.

I don't know who the real contenders are this season but I will say that I'm excited for the season as some of the weaker teams in the west have gotten a bit better. It's going to be fun to watch.

I think San Jose is going to miss the playoffs again this year. I don't know why they didn't just force Marleau and Thornton to waive their NMC after the collapse against the Kings and built around Pavelski and Couture. Maybe they did try and force their hand and they are so stubborn that they refused to leave? It's almost sad with them signing older players like Ward and Martin to be competitive. Those aren't moves to make them a contender. Those are moves with hopes they can get back into the playoffs. They'll probably end up costing them in the long run with nothing to show for it inthe short term. It's just wasting more years of Pavelski and Couture. They are officially in the black hole.

All the contenders are up against the cap, no place for those guys to go except to bad teams in more serious hockey markets where they would be expected to live up to those contracts by the fans and media.

I don't blame Thornton and Marleau, I wouldn't want to leave Doug Wilson's country club either. You get to make millions while living in anonymity in Northern California and enjoy great fishing trips and golfing every April.

I personally wouldn't be surprised to see the Sharks finish ahead of the Kings in the standings, I think they still have a good team that was ruined by management last year. Also Martin and Ward are very solid acquisitions, they might be bad contracts in a couple of years but I think they're a great fit for the Sharks right now.

Whit that t-shirt choice, it is not cold.
I question the need for a scarf Mr. Avery.

My comment : you mean they'll be 2-16 in OT/Shootouts instead of 3-15?

some of you obsess way too much about what a handful of dummies say on the main board. I looked at that thread and the majority of the comments were pretty reasonable assessments of the Kings chances this year, many very positive
