I remember all the talk about this kid and the big push to sign him. Wasn't he looking some sort of reassurance he would not start in the AHL, wanted to be in the show off the hop?

Not saying he's gonna be ****** but he might also be another Joe Piskula.

Mike Reilly has been assigned to the AHL.

As training camp progressed it didn't look like Reilly would earn a top-six defense spot, so this move isn't surprising. The 22-year-old defender will get plenty of playing time in the minors.

Minnesota isn't exactly stacked on their big club either.

The title says it best

The NHL is a better, safer place without Raffi Torres

http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/the-nhl-is-a-better-safer-place-without-raffi-torres/
I recall back in 2011 when Torres was not suspended for a shoulder to the head of then-Boston defenceman Andrew Ference on Dec. 28. The very next night he was let off with a fine after a headshot on Colorado defenceman Jan Hejda.

Undeterred, on Dec. 31 Torres skated out against Minnesota and cracked Nate Prosser with a patented shoulder to the head. The league gave Torres two games, but the stretch of games was like a robber that wanted to be caught, so reckless was Torres despite the fact that all eyes were on him every shift.

He'll never change. SHame on the NHL for not doing the right thing, and tossing him out. They should have suspended him for the year, his contract is up. IT shouldn't take him hitting a player hard enough to to permanent damage to wake them up. He'll return for a half season and be the shark in blood infested waters, just on the hunt for another victim.

And as the article points out, his contract runs out this year and No GM will take that risk, he'll end up like Kalenta, 29 and out of the NHL.

****ing islanders first hickey now Berube...why Tokarski cleared but berube didn't is odd to me

Because Tokarski is on a one way deal and Berube is a two way. I would imagine the Isles don't want 3 goalies on one way deals.

The Isles will eventually try to send Berube to the AHL.

Both have to clear waivers. The fact one is a 2-way and one is a 1-way is meaningless.

Corrado (TOR), Byron (MTL) and Berube (NYI) claimed on waivers.

I had a feeling the LEafs would pick up Corrado, a hometown boy who might be a nice piece for their backend, a reliable , steady d that will get a chance to play this year. Risky move by the Canucks, Corrado had a good preseason, tied for scoring lead with 5 pts. He's looked good when they've called him up.

Genius.

Ducks fans in the comments below trying to defend him are the cherry on top. (Yep, I actually scrolled down there and saw stuff I'd love to un-see)

Video was posted 5 years ago and some guy is commenting three weeks ago. Do these ****s set their alarm clock to post YouTube comments?

I thought Arizona was going to grab him

It's not nearly as bad as when I got into a "debate" with someone a few years back. Usually took me a few days to get around to whatever he wrote, but he never failed to respond within 12 hours, no joke.

It's not meaningless if Isles eventually get him one to AHL. It would save real world money at that point. Of course that would be mean LA wouldn't want Berube back as LA would have a chance to reclaim Berube and then send him to AHL without waivers unlike any other team.

This is a short (2 mins or so) video a friend of mine sent to me, his 7 yr old is in the USA hockey program.

This video is at an outdoor rink, where they scaled up the size of the ice and nets for adults to what it feels/looks like to an 8 yr old.

Watching their reaction, how hard it was to skate, pass, etc, makes you appreciate why using the half ice system helps build confidence in the kids, they get more touches and are more involved in the play.

8 is way too old to be using half ice. At 5/6 years old 1/2 ice works most of the time, even then full ice is ok sometimes.

Kids do better developing skills like skating, passing, shooting when they have more room to work with. On smaller ice it's just a cluster of bodies falling into each other constantly in big piles. The kids need that space for skill development.

That video isn't very indicative of anything besides the fact that those adults aren't very good and won't be getting better, unlike kids.

1. Had to check it out.

2. First post by a Sharks fan made me laugh out loud - "Deflate your hype balloons, the Kings are gonna be worse than last season."

3. I've said it a hundred times and I'll say it again - why do members on our board DEFEND THE KINGS ON THE MAIN BOARD. Who gives a ****???

Hah you totally made me go look too. I didn't read a lot, but I smelled a lot of fear. All I gotta say is you don't know whether your team has the right stuff to win it all until they actually do. A bunch of bluster and bravado from fans of teams who have collapsed in the playoffs repeatedly in recent years.
