Isles catch Philly but the Caps schedule will be too tough for them to overcome.

I think WC2 comes down to Philly, Wings and Devils.
Probably not. I am not particularly impressed with any of those teams though so who knows.

We play NJ x3 Wash x2 Philly x2 Detroit x1 Tampa x2 over our last 18 so we'll play a factor in the race.

Someone said mcdavid could catch Gretzky points record.

Gretzky has 2800. Mcdavid has 950. He'd have to play like another 20-25 years to do catch him.
Let’s say McD finish with another 50pts this season. Even if he gets 150pts for the next 10 years, he will still be 300 pts short.
That’s how great Wayne was.

Make the goalies play in those horse hair pads.
Put Wayne in todays league and see how many points he gets

Going to be fascinating what happens with the Sens. They are just losing left, right and center right now. They only sold Tarasenko at the deadline and they only have about 13M of cap space this off-season with Pinto to sign which will take a big chunk of that. They have terrible goaltenders signed into next year. They have a brand new President that gave himself the GM position as well as no coach yet.

I won't blink if their on ice product is worse next season too.

It's just a horribly managed organization from top to bottom

They committed and went all in on their core before the accomplished literally anything. Atleast when we committed to early we proved we were a playoff team year in year out first lol I really truly hope they end up having to go around for attempt #2 at this rebuild.

People wont really say it because they have Stutzle, Tkachuk, Sanderson etc but they are just like Buffalo, and no further along than them. Their team is infected with a losing, laid back culture. They dont play how it takes to win. They play to put up points and score goals. They likely need a major locker room shake up to change something but I really doubt that happens. I don't think moving a Chabot/Chychrun changes anything. Chabot barely plays in the first place.

Pens fans still saying they got Karlsson "for free" despite the pick they gave up currently sits at 9th overall makes me laugh. They even wanna keep it this year if its top 10 protected. Dont think thats a good idea at all. How could you have faith at this point that they will do even better next year?

I think a lot of Pens fans believe their team isn't that bad and are pinning everything on Sullivan. Fact is that next season Sid, Malkin and Letang are all one year older and they have no good young talent to surround them with.

Sid will be 37, Letang 37 and Malkin 38 as they begin next season. Karlsson will be 34.

Many think that some trades, FA signings and a new coach will make the Pens good again.

At some point the fans will have to transition from denial into the acceptance stage.

Berube is going there? Their goalie will be flipped for a struggling goalie ala Devils-Sharks, and then throw a boat load of cash to Tanev hoping to sign?

It is interesting to see at least. Wild to say… but the Sabres might have a better future to navigate than the Senators.

Pens need to play .675 hockey just to reach Burke's Pens' 91 points last season. They get McD coming of a loss and a zero point game this afternoon.

Yep and even then that 91 point mark has moved closer to 94 in recent years.

Pens finished with 91 points last season and missed the playoffs.

Pens are done. Sid looks checked out now.

I'd wager Crosby will see out his contract then test out free agency. He should push for a trade this summer though, no sense in wasting another season when he has plenty of gas left in the tank.

I will say it's very likely they go with a veteran coach. Berube or Gallant fits that. We'll see.

They have a solid bunch of players but their goaltending is god awful and their overall defensive play is pretty crappy too. I will also say their depth is pretty bad. Part of that was on DJ Smith who lasted far too long. They 100% should not be on that kind of losing streak.

It is insane to me that Jake Sanderson already makes 8M and he got that after 1 NHL season. He's pretty good and likely will be great but they really needed to bridge him.

They were in such a rush to proclaim Tkachuk as a tremendous leader that they got carried away and allowed the kid way too much influence. A very good player who I’d love to have, but he’s a bit of a goofball, capering for cameras in and outside the rink. His antics must drive straight arrow Poulin around the bend. They risked giving all those unproven kids big $ and term and had to hit on all of them. That’s not happening. Chabot has been bad the last couple of years, Chychrun underwhelming, Norris damaged physically. Stutzle and Sanderson are very nice pieces.
Dorion name chased and was comically incompetent. Long way to go for the new regime. I also wonder if team Tkachuk gets itchy and starts agitating for Brady getting moved to a more favourable market for their enterprises.

Aaron Ekblad lower body injury. Don’t know how bad it is but the Panthers haven’t faired as well when he’s out for a long stretch.

It seemed so innocent. You can see his left knee get a bump. I'd be shocked if this was long-term.

I remember the WJHC when Chabot and McAvoy were so good. McAvoy got to play with Chara and Chabot….well…… I still think there’s a good hockey player in there if he was in a better situation.

I hope so, but with his history……

So hard to believe just a few short years ago I still thought Ottawa was gonna make the playoffs and the Leafs were gonna win the cup.

I don't know about anyone else. But nothing makes me feel better about my shitty life than seeing some poor bastard who has it even worse. That's how I feel watching the Ottawa Senators operate all these years.

Leafs fans upset over the repeated playoffs failures can be soothed by looking at their provincial "rivals" and thank god they don't cheer for that loser team.

Yes I think Chabot properly slotted as second pair puck mover paired with a solid defensive RH partner, could be an effective player. Not worth his current ticket even with a little cap inflation. Of course RH top 4 partners don’t fall out of thin air.
His game reminds me of Rielly a lot. Although even Rielly is smarter with the puck in his own zone.

Well Buffalo and Ottawa do have talented players.

Who knows what it is going to take, again like the Leafs once they hit the playoffs.

Something has to change, players and/or coaches?
