I have a soft spot for Detroit so I wouldn't mind that. Rather he go there vs. Vancouver or Vegas.

He would probably score a lot on Detroit, but I don't think Detroit should be sacrificing any assets for a UFA at this stage of their rebuild, especially since it's almost certain that Guentzel will test free agency. Detroit desperately needs to acquire a legitimate goalie (common theme these days), and I think they would be better off using their assets for that purpose.

Fun fact about Guentzel - he is the highest-scoring NHL player from Nebraska (of the 4 Nebraskans that have ever played in the NHL).

I don't think it works that way if the owner says no to trading a player lol that is a pretty definitive death blow to trading for said player.
