Yeah. Their underlying numbers always showed a team that was getting fairly lucky. Scoring at a rate too high for the chances they generate, while also allowing chances at a rate far higher than they were getting scored on would suggest. Regression was inevitable.

This is why I don't worry about Tampa catching the Leafs. They are terrible on the road.

As fans we might care about Boston and Florida winning, but the Leafs just have to win games they're in.

Just make the real season, and then hope for some breaks.

I don't see them falling into a wild card spot. Tampa and Detroit fall over themselves worse than the Leafs do.

Leafs might catch them after they lap the field.

There still are 33 games, if Leafs get a goaltender, and Domi and Bertuzzi find the right handed sticks to use, maybe they could close the gap. I think it would require 2 things, Leafs figure out how to play 60 minutes and Bruins and Panthers forget.
