Not sure how Dallas is managing to pull this off thus far.
It’s the last hurrah for the 2003 draft class ...

One things that's a bit of an irritant is just how many posters refuse to understand that the price to cap dump a player has gone up. Revenue is down so much it may be a third normal or worse.

Teams are laying off sizable numbers of staff. Even perennial playoff teams are talking about internal caps. There is absolutely no way that the cap dump price has not changed.

I don't disagree but we'll see what it's like when it starts! I'm not sure anyone wants to be the one to set the market by making the first move.

Yeah. I can see not wanting to set the market. I'm just curious how much the market has changed.

Once the Cup Final is over we should see something. Even no activity at that point would mean something.

I thought the Lightning would win this series, but never expected this kind of result. Doubt we'll see another game like this from the isles, but this isn't a good omen.

Still only counts for 1. Ask the Sharks how they feel about Game 1 and 2 blowouts.
The Islanders weren't prepared for Tampa Bay. There's more depth to deal with. They'll make the adjustments they need to make and hopefully come better prepared or they'll get swept basically. The Kings finally got it right in game 4(showed signs of figuring it out in game 3) and it became the Sharks unable to make the right adjustments to the Kings.

You can't outgun Tampa.
The only way to beat them is through physical play and tough forecheck

Which they were able to answer to against Boston and Columbus. I think they may have learned a few lessons from getting bounced in the playoffs the last couple of years. They’ve also reached the Conference Finals in 4 out of the last 6 years with a Cup Final appearance, so they’ve experienced a lot of playoff hockey for a decent stretch.

I know certain people like to crap on them on here because of their lack of Cup wins, but this is a pretty good team with the best defenseman and best goaltender in the league leading the way. These guys aren’t the Sharks.

They were not tough enough Ziggy...

They should have done the Rodney Dangerfield treatment - "The football team in my high school was tough. After they sacked the quarterback, they went after his family." That type of toughness.

They certainly can try. The Islanders were credited with 44 hits and gave the Lightning 6 PPs. The Isles aren't lacking in physical players, but the Lightning also have the likes of Maroon and Coleman, plus others who play with an edge, like Hedman, Sergachev and Cernak. The Lightning aren't just some small team who'll curl into a ball and be intimidated by physical hockey.

In fact, the Lightning ranked 7th overall in hits this past season, and they've recorded the 4th most amount of hits in the playoffs. They delivered more hits than teams like the Bruins and Blues, who a lot of people around here laud for their physical brand of hockey.

Until they added Coleman, Maroon and Goodrow. Add Cirelli and Paquette and you have a pretty tough bottom 6. The Isles have their work cut out for them.
