Did all of this come about after he traded to San Jose? Or "do" the Sharks just not "do" and due diligence on their trades?

This reads like an NFL/NBA player resume. There was a show on ESPN that showed how high paid sports pro's go broke. One guy had 4 mortages, not including his own. And another had 7 kids with 5 different women.

was Florida ahead of us? How did we not claim him?
LA passed on him, and it makes sense when you think about it. Juulsen is a good defenseman with very little NHL experience. He is in a similar spot as Anderson, Bjornfot, and Clague.

LA has:
Matta - Doughty
Anderson - Roy
Bjornfot/Clague - Walker
MacDermid

Who does Juulsen replace? You don't want to take a spot away from Anderson, Bjornfot, or Clague, as this is their year to make themselves solid NHLers. Roy and Walker are both better than Juulsen (today). And Macdermid is a solid 7th defenseman on this team that brings character and toughness. There really isn't a spot for him this season.

That puck was inches away.

Yeah I agree with you. Our scouts probably do not rate him any better than what we already have. Sean Walker and Matt Roy are only two years and two and a half years older respectively than Juulsen. Juulsen is a righty as well. Both Matt Roy and Sean Walker are likely going to be protected in the expansion draft along with Doughty. If Clague looks good, maybe they protect 4 D. I just don't see the need at this point unless you think any of the right sided spots are up for grabs. And none of them are.

Lol, Dustin living rent free in San Jose. Probably the only way to live in that overpriced POS city.

Now that I think about, I can see why Kane had multiple homes.

No problem with the commentary on Brown and SJ fans, that's what rivalries are for. Universally, we despise him.

That said, I think you've taken my quote out of context, and it doesn't read well. My commentary was in regards to frustration with fans taking joy in Kane's issues.

Back to the hellhole that is San Jose's offseason!

I don't think I would be a fan of Evander Kane's personality and his bravado although, at his best, he would be the kind of player you would want on your team when it comes to skill and toughness. That stated, I would not want to wish anyone to go bankruptcy even if it is a guy that plays on a team we hate. That stuff stings and is hard to recover from long after the rivalries and hatred for a team dies down at a point. We all hate Corey Perry in this board and I don't think most of us wish him to go bankrupt. I just prefer they get humiliated on ice for something they did during a game and we can laugh at that rather than laugh at this Evander Kane situation.

Interested to see what Florida is this year. They obviously have to protect Bob. He's their huge investment, and he's not going anywhere. As we saw with Quick, if the defense isn't rock solid, an unpredictable goalie that flies around this way and that is going to get exposed.

They've changed the defense. Might change it more. The question will be, is it good enough?

They've taken a step back offensively. It's Barkov, Huberdeau, and then just a bunch of random dudes right now. Hornqvist is 34.

They desperately need to start winning. If that means they have to go boring and all out 3-2 Sutter hockey, whatever gets them into a legit playoff spot I guess.

I'm kind of with you here. On one hand, I feel like he's a douche who won't learn who deserves whatever karma throws him; on the other, I appreciate his hard nosed game and energy, and just wonder how he got to this point. There are plenty of professional athletes who just are absolutely stupid with their money and have no financial education or family leadership and they just f*** up time and time again from both a financial and behavioral standpoint--never want to see a guy land on the streets homeless and destitute before he learns. Maybe that's why the Sharks pitched in. At some point, he's gotta get pulled aside but he actually also has to listen to someone with his best interests in mind before it's too late. I mean, this alone should be a harsh lesson, but who knows...

But this example is one of the reasons I'm glad the Kings responded to the Voynov and other scenarios with Brantt Mhyres and that support, I'd like to think they'd be forceful about pulling your shit together.

perry is a rat on the ice but from all i know, a good dude off and friends with a lot of players and i've sure as hell never seen him running around with stacks of hundreds bundled

kane is a sanctimonious prick on ice and off, he earned every ounce of what's coming his way. and he's sure been f***in quiet about it when he spends all sorts of time complaining on twitter about what other people are doing wrong. no surprise, the biggest mouths got the most to hide

The realigned COVID Central division will make it almost impossible for them to make the playoffs. Canes, Jackets and Bolts should ace the top 3 spots. Preds, Stars should battle it out for the 4th. Losing Dadanov hurt them, adding Duclair and Wennberg could help a bit. Duclair has been playing (and pretty good ) on the top line with Huberdeau and Barkov. Owen TIppett and Carter Verhaeghe were the 2nd line. Unless their bottom 6 comes thru, tough spot. But then again, if Bob has a bouncw back year, they could make 4th. RIght now he's 'unfit to play' so not sure when he'll suit up.

Claimed off waivers:

Nashville claimed Sbisa
Devils claimed Comrie
Sharks claimed Balcers
Canes claimdd Forsberg

On Waivers today
Komarov (Isles) and Nedeljkovic (Canes)

Canes and Sens made a minor trade, Canes trade defenseman Maxime Lajoie to Sens for Center CLark Bishop

Seems like teams need to hire financial advisers for their players.

I'm assume it's a liability thing.

If a team hires an advisor, and the advice from that advisor loses the player money, then the team could be held liable.

Also, it would be a conflict of interest for the advisor, under employment of the team, to advise a player on what future deals would be in his best interest.

If anything, I would assume it's an agent duty, since they're a fiduciary.
