That's going to look really weird seeing him in anything other than the Bruins jersey

Pierre-Luc Dubois's bridge deal with the Jackets, doens't change the fact he wants a trade, a change of scenery, according to LeBrun and Aaron Portzline (both in the Athletic)
He's a dynamic forward and being under a contract will make that potential move easier.

Thank you for the information. I don't have the athletic. Did they go into why he wants out?

Random question, what were the Kings’ pairings last season while Martinez was part of the team?

Going by EVTOI, the right side is easy to figure. However, I’m not sure about the left side. TMac appears to have gone with AM/Doughty playing a big chunk of the minutes for games, but also had Ryan and Hutton next to #8 as well.

I strive for historical accuracy when playing season mode on the PlayStation. Haha

By the time AMart was traded he was playing the majority of his time with Sean Walker I believe.

Hutton/Ryan - Doughty
Martinez - Walker
MacDermid - Roy

Martinez played (at even strength)
230 minutes with Doughty
210 minutes with Walker
127 minutes with Hutton
78 minutes with Roy

So training camp is underway and Barzel's not signed yet and not close. He wants an LTC in the 10M per range and the Isls are a bit short on CAP (even if they put Ladd on LTIR) and are offering a short deal in the 7M range. I guess if he won't do a bridge (like 8.5 x 2years ?) , due to the shortened season, he has until Feb 11, to sign or his season is over.

Not that Barzal isn't worth it, but good luck to any player trying to get this type of deal at this time.

Turcotte, Kupari and a top five protected first...who says no

If Boychuk is traded then the Islanders would have about $10M in space. Yes he can go on LTIR but I believe not till right before and benefit is only on cap overage or something. So maybe LA could pick up Boychuk plus a sweetener to give the Islanders some wiggle room.

Kings do.

PLD won't be the difference between the current team and a contender. There is no supporting cast in place. There are issues at all 3 LHD positions, the bottom 6, the 2nd line, and while promising, Petersen is still unproven so there is a major question in goal.

It will take 2 or so years to resolve those issues. And by that time, turcotte could conceivably turn into what PLD is now. Add in Kupari and what that 1st could be... it's too much right now. The kings need time to figure the roster out.

I'd do that in a heartbeat. Pretty much three first rounders for PLD. 2021 1st since it's a weak draft but I'd do that deal. Jackets might ask for more but that's a good deal for PLD.

Turcotte may not be an overly firey, in your face type of personality, but his style of game is a culture changer. The constant support and forward moving, economical, gritty approach at full pace is exactly what you need in the playoffs.

When there is a lull or you need to change or extend shift to shift momentum, he is the perfect centerman. He is absolutely not available in my eyes.

Hanging on to Brown, Carter and Quick precludes any move to inject NHL all star level talent into the roster for this season and potentially next year if the team doesn’t improve on the ice.

He suffers from being the least flashy skill player. He punches above his weight yet plays within his means.

Reports are Friedman belives PLD wants a bigger market.

I still think it's too early to trade for him. With Carter, the core was in place and the kings had a young top goalie, an established defense led by a 22 year old doty, and a young kopitar and brown and a prime williams. The Kings were a playoff time for 2 years in a row.

The Kings don't have that now.

Me. I don't belive that Turcotte can play that way (how he is playing in the WJC) and stay healthy in the NHL, so I'm ready to trade him, but not for PLD. If we trade him, we should get back a young, big, potential minute-eating dman like Seider. I would definitely do Turcotte <-> Seider -trade. Seider has potential to be next Willie Mitchell.

And I would do Turcotte and Kupari <-> Cozens. I think Cozens is next Toews. I just love him and I think Cozens will be a culture changer in Buffalo. Turcotte is hard working, hard skating, a very talented grinder-type player, but a good draft year and 5th overall pick - no way. Blake just botched it and that's it.
