Ducks just re-signed Vatrano (would have liked him here at some point) to 3 years $18 million. Deferred money makes the cap hit $4.57 and he'll be out of Cali by then. We're trendsetters now.
Bullshit our knowledge of food alone should make us at least in the 20'sNah it's @HisIceness fault.
Also, how do you gage such a thing? Because if you're going by college degrees by STH or something then this is nonsense because Raleigh is like top-5 most educated city in the country. If you're going by dumbass ramblings online then, okay, but let's be real every team is guilty of that.
Ducks with another impressive showing beating the Bolts.
I think it's funny how everyone is praising the Ducks for their "creativity" and how it's so smart by both parties. Pretty sure folks were screaming "CAP CIRCUMVENTION" when we did it with Jarvy?Ducks just re-signed Vatrano (would have liked him here at some point) to 3 years $18 million. Not that creative, they’re just copying the Dodgers and Ohtani.I think it's funny how everyone is praising the Ducks for their "creativity" and how it's so smart by both parties. Pretty sure folks were screaming "CAP CIRCUMVENTION" when we did it with Jarvy?
Creative as far as the NHL is concerned, I think it's only the 2nd one to ours that's utilized "deferred" salaryNot that creative, they’re just copying the Dodgers and Ohtani.

Yeah. On the one hand it feels super cap circumventy, but on the other hand, Frank Vatrano's agent knows 100% what his comps are and what cap hit he expects he can get as a UFA this year. $4.57M seems about right. His camp may have even been the ones to suggest the deferred payments for tax reasons.Technically, it’s the 4th. The Yotes did it with Doan way back when, then a big gap, then we did it with Slavin’s new contract on a very minor level to see if anyone would raise a fuss. No one did, so Jarvis got the same treatment. And now Vatrano.
And people are right that it’s already become somewhat of a slippery slope (going from a very small amount granted immediately after the contract ends to $9 million 10 years from now is kind of crazy), but ultimately, if both sides are OK with it, I don’t see what can be done.

It feels suspicious but it's much better than the ridiculous Kovalchuk and LTIR shenanigans of yore.
I also think the more dangerous thing could be for 35+ players. Guy like Brent Burns could get offered a weird deal by a capped team like the Bolts an get offered 1 year $3M adjusted caphit where he gets most of it 10 years from now.
pushing income to the future does have risks for the athlete particularly if the model used misses the mark on a much higher future inflation factor (unless it is auto-adjusted versus fixed....but can you do that in a cap world?).Yeah. Pretty sure that’s the seventh sign of the apocalypse….devices so essential to life a pro hockey player can’t leave it in the locker room for a half hour.
Imagine Torts post game….
McKinnon also has better support around him such as line quality and consistency. That passes the eye test. Both players can absolutely fly when there's open ice in front of them. I just wish Necas was more like McKinnon in every other situation besides that.
I remember the play, and it was a shocking burst from Slavin to get back and break up a breakaway. Incredible burst that I don't think any of us thought he had in him. He just saves it for times like that. The fact the Slavin has the 4th fastest recorded time this year is a little surprising. I never thought he was slow, as a matter of fact I know he can skate, just didn't know he was that fast.
