You know who is literally the exact opposite of this when it comes to dealing with fans?

Some guy named Wayne Gretzky.

Haula isn't worth one of Wayne's toenail clippings
Bobby Hull was legendary for being great to fans too. He also beat his wife and kids.

People are complex, and I wouldn't assume Haula was a bad person just because he doesn't like interacting with fans. I would assume he's a bad person because everyone who has interacted with him closely in private for an extended period of time seems to come out of it hating him.

This Sabres/Avs game has been super fun in the third. Sabres got a goal with the Avs goalie writhing on the ice (correct call probably since Avs never possessed it). Lots of physical play and emotion since. Feeling that the Sabres might be on the edge of collapsing but so far holding it just together.

Holy moly, the Avs give up a hat trick to Zucker to fall down two late and then score two goals with the goalie pulled to tie it up, including a Drouin goal with 7 seconds left.

Then Devon Toews scores a breakaway in OT. Dang that was good shit.

One of the funniest things in the entire NHL is the Outlet Liquor ads that flash after replays during Buffalo Sabres broadcasts.

Buffalo seems like an ideal trade partner for the Canes looking for a shakeup. They have a lot of talent but it's not clicking. Sabresmike would know their players, I don't watch other teams. In any case they have a lot of interesting forwards and defense, the question being what they would want.

Regarding these international tournaments I root for two things.

Our prospects do well

No one gets hurt.

Whoever wins wins. Don't really care one way or another.
I dunno, after watching Latvia handle Canada and hold their own against other "better" teams, I was really hoping to see the get a Cinderella story medal. Sweden seems to be the "powerhouse" this year, USA and Finland are probably next. CZE and SVK are always good for a few surprises and upsets though

Maybe the NHL should stop scheduling shit teams to play these highlights games.

But also, New Year's Eve was a dumb time to play this game. Didn't it used to be New Years Day? And even then, good luck going up against the college football playoffs.

It did yes. It always went up against at the very least, the Rose Bowl, although IIRC the WC and Rose Bowl would be on at different times.

But now with this expanded playoff, it's just going to be harder. That said, I'd rather watch Hockey than College football.

Should also point out there were a bunch of other games on the 31st.

I turned it on during NYE. I believe my thought process was:

1) This game is today?
2) These teams aren't very good.
...
3) This ice isn't very good.
...
4) Not very good teams + not very good ice = not very good hockey.

Yeah they moved it because of the expanded playoffs for collage football. But poor marketing and poor teams pretty much spelled doom for this game from the get go.

With the expanded playoffs they'll likely need to move away from New Years Day/Eve all together if they want a chance at a good viewing audience even with better teams.
