the fact that your ACTIVE CAPTAIN is someone you need to visciously strong arm off your team in some soap opera-like display says so much about the Rangers right now. LOL.
I'd agree if it wasn't Jacob Trouba, but it all feels like Act II remembering how he forced WPG to trade him to NYR and only there when he was about to become UFA.

It's like Barry Lyndon, except that the guy is a dick in both halves of the film.

Galaxy brain stuff about why the hell Anaheim would do this.

The salary floor is $65M and Anaheim is at $68M. With this move Anaheim can move some veterans without needing to take back enough salary to stay above the floor.

Could Gibson be on the move? Vatrano?

And no salary retention.

Of course Rangers get another out of jail card. Stupid GMs.
Yeah, I wasn't really expecting any retention. GMs still value a bum that's physical and has leadership. I like those qualities if the guy can actually play. The Rags will be able to reshape themselves a good bit either now, at the deadline, or in the offseason.

Fortunately they have the ability to buy something stupid. Like they did with Trouba and WPG.

It'll be interesting to see what the conclusion is. I don't like this because New York stands to get better just by moving on from this bum.
The thing I don't like about this is that they've been linked to a move with Miller of late. Managing to get out from under this prick and improving from Zib to Miller would absolutely piss me off.

I was gonna say I can't see JTM wanting to go back to NYR, but he doesn't have a NTC so it could happen I guess...they'd probably have to give up a lot though to get him

Ranger signing their goalie at $11.5m per for 8 years. Getting rid of Truba sure helped.

Anaheim GM to be on Drury’s Christmas card list going forward.

Verbeek is still Anaheim’s GM right? He definitely played with Ted Drury so maybe he still owes him a favor
Remember meeting him outside the Meadowlands Arena after a game the Whalers got crushed 4-0 in. Zalapski and a few other guys were traded earlier in the day and Burkie had the flu and it was the most phoned in effort ever (think they only had 9 shots, Brodeur only got 3rd star).
