Also, he keeps on saying Forsling is the best defensive defenseman in hockey.

Sorry, Slavin says hello.

Btw: worst mistake of the Borg was letting forsling go.

Yeah, probably. Admittedly, though, late-blooming players are the toughest commodities to evaluate, especially guys like Forsling who they did not draft. They seemed to correct some of those past mistakes when they made Chatfield and Noesen NHLers after the Calder Cup win. I think it's important to note that no team gets pro scouting 100% right all the time.

It's alway hindsight with guys like Forsling. Vancouver drafted him and traded him to the Blackhawks. Blackhawks basically dumped him to Carolina. Canes waived him and he went to Florida.

He was a late bloomer that 3 NHL teams passed on. It happens.

Martin St. Louis was undrafted. Calgary had him and let him go. He was a so-so player in TB until at the age of 27, he took off.

Every team misses on players and also hits on players (Aho, Slavin, Pesce, etc..). Nobody bats 1000

Florida's entire roster is a treasure trove of late-blooming players. Only three guys on that team were drafted by them: Barkov, Ekblad, and Lundell. Verhaeghe bounced around a bit and was actually non-tendered before he found a permanent home. Sam Bennett teetered around the draft bust territory before the Cats took a chance on him. Reinhart wasn't a bust by any means but he didn't really become this ultra-valuable, must-have guy until he went to Florida. Montour was traded to them for a measly 3rd round pick.

For as much as the 06 team gets shit on for how they won, I don’t think you trade the drama/stress for a Panthers-like run. This is a forgettable ending to a forgettable run.
This Panthers team will get shit on just as much as 04 Tampa, 06 Carolina and 07 Anaheim did because they’re a southern market going to beat a Canadian team.
