Canes always find a way to pivot. It's what they do. They'll either get an impact forward another way or they'll the deepest defensive group of the decade.
We need some help up front. It's a yearly broken record, but at this point it's silly that we have such an overloaded defense while we've largely neglected getting Aho the scoring winger he needs.

Crazy thing is, we can afford to make a trade for a top 6 scoring winger using someone from the defense as a centerpiece and still arguably have one of the deepest defensive cores of the cap era going into the season.

That being said, I was never really convinced Tank was that kind of player. He would have helped, but I think he's living off his reputation, and not his current level of play, and the metrics kind of back it up.

The Canes don't even need to do that. They can accumulate enough deadline cap space with Kochetkov optioned to the AHL to buy an impact goalscorer (with term) at the Trade Deadline, without giving up ANY of our defensemen.

Personally, Kuzmenko would be my guy, but that Vancouver brass is still delusional that they can make the playoffs, so that likely will not happen until the trade deadline. If a team like Washington decays even more, who knows, maybe Ovechkin can come in and be the forward version of Burns for us until 2026 (I know, I'm a dreamer).

I wouldn’t say living off reputation as his recent reputation was “injured”.

But if he’s making a living off the rush as that tweet states, that’s a bad fit with this team as they played last year. Maybe TDA and Orlov can create more transition offense, but I think we still see a lot of dump and forecheck. That’s not Tarasenko’s game.

Besides for food, perhaps a reason why he may not have preferred to come to NC.

I'm not losing sleep over VT, but I am concerned about our offensive firepower as per usual. Of course, maybe our D will just score 1 million goals this season, who knows.
I would still like to see an upgrade at F, but TT (rebound to normal) and Jarvis (step forward in development) should provide more offense than last year. KK may also take another step and Bunting should be a much needed presence around the net potting 20 or so goals. Lastly, hopefully we have a healthy Svech for the playoffs.

It’s certainly a glass half full view, but this team should be able to score a lot of goals regardless of adding another forward.

And maybe a few others as well. I suspect some players like seeing their names on the various top scoring lists and the cash that comes with it - warranted or not.
