If Scott Stevens was unique, I'd agree a little more with that. But the NHL flat out rewarded that shit in that era. Marchement, Pronger, Neidermeyer (oh hey, another Devil), it was hardly unique. Teams that could get those guys got those guys, guys who could do that were stars and it was considered great hockey by nearly everyone.

We've come a long way since in our understanding of brain injuries, and if you're still employing those guys, and if you're naming them captain...

Teams you meet in the 2nd round of the playoffs will be good. We allowed the fewest goals of any team in the league not named the Boston Bruins. Let them worry about our D and goaltending, because they're doing exactly that.
