Well.....an interesting data point tonight....Teravainen played 2C w/Svech and Jarvis on his wings for the entire 3rd period. Plus, Tripp made a comment that it was something Rod had wanted to try for a while (or something like that)....
I believe that was Brandon Dubinsky. What team was it that had a good faceoff guy playing wing, and he would take the draw and just switch with the guy who was the actual C?
You're probably right but I still feel like Vancouver could have held out longer in the hopes of getting a better package and still wound up with at least something similar to what they got from the Islanders at the worst. I'm guessing JR locked in on Beauvillier and/or Raty.
FIFY.We need a trade soon. The fans are getting restless.
I also don't think shipping out a much loved guy like Jarvis for a rental would be likely to do wonders for the room. What you're giving up matters a lot too.FIFY.
I dont think the players care one way or another. They are well aware that they are in 2nd place and are one of the best teams in the league. They might want or feel better about a trade if one of the other contenders (IE not Islanders) improves their team but I feel right now to a man this roster feels when healthy it can go toe to toe with any team in the league.
Its us fans that think they have to add something.
Now where's the article on blown leads, because for about 10 games there we were trying to set a single-season record I thinkInteresting data I found when looking due to the thread about Carolina's comebacks. The summary is that Carolina is not coming back more than other top teams. The good teams lead more often and when they do trail, they comeback more often. This tab on one website surprised me a little. The Carolina Hurricanes have TRAILED less amount of time (on average / game) than any other team in the NHL and they've LED the 2nd most amount of time (behind Boston).
I don't know how to get data where a team blows a lead but still wins. As far as losing a game after leading? Now where's the article on blown leads, because for about 10 games there we were trying to set a single-season record I think

Quite a bit of drop off in one year. It would be helpful if they could offer a more simplified viewer experience for retention purposes if nothing else.
And how much of it was Bally dropping off of most cable packages? How much of said drop was a shift to streaming and other online options for games? They never mention these things in the numbers.

It's interesting when scrolling down ESPN+ home screen to "Leagues" and how often there is MMA, women's BBall, some odd golf tourney, soccer, etc. before NHLsitting in the 5th spot even on nights there are plenty of games.ESPN does not market hockey. We all saw this shit coming from a country mile away. They put hockey on the back shelf while promoting everything but the sport 24 hours a day.
The kicker is that TNT is doing a better job with the guys they have than ESPN with promoting the sport. Their studio segments with Biz are legitimately good and they're putting in an effort to bring that coverage up to the standard they have set with their NBA broadcasts. But ESPN? Nah, they don't care.
I'm glad that my ESPN+ subscription comes with Center Ice. I wish that my regional Canes broadcasts could be bundled with that, and maybe soon it will be (and I'll be glad to pay more if they do). The day we get rid of local blackout restrictions, you'll see an immediate spike in viewership around the country. Half this problem is because Sinclair is making it f***ing impossible to watch your own teams.
I look forward to them seeing this and going "lets run back what NBC was doing for viewership" And we're back to seeing nothing but O6, Philly and Pittsburgh all the time regardless of how bad they may be.ESPN does not market hockey. I mean at least at that point ESPN would be spending some time on the NHL. As it is, the entire sport has been shoved to the back corner and forgotten outside of the weekly 'oh shit, we need to mention we are contractually obligated to air a game in 5 mins'I look forward to them seeing this and going "lets run back what NBC was doing for viewership" And we're back to seeing nothing but O6, Philly and Pittsburgh all the time regardless of how bad they may be.
could be. it would be funny to see Matthews go from one team to the next who doesnt do well in the playoffs. Will be crazy in 2 years when the coyotes have bedard and matthews down the middle

When it’s national I just do a free trial of one of those streaming services like fubo or YouTube tv.I can only speak for myself, but I pay for ESPN+ (plus a VPN for Canes games) so I catch the vast majority of the Canes schedule plus a bunch of other random games I decide to drop in to.
The only thing I'm not watching (for money) are national broadcasts. I'm not buying a $80/month cable subscription so I can watch one Canes game. Sorry, that is not happening ever, and I know I am not alone in this dynamic. They can figure out a fix or they can keep watching those numbers drop.
People have been warning for years that this was going to happen, and here it is in hard data.
Lol I did this just this week with fubo so I could watch the Kings game, only to be foiled last night because fubo doesn’t carry TNT. Should’ve seen that coming. When it’s national I just do a free trial of one of those streaming services like fubo or YouTube tv.
