And here I was fearing the Flames would end up with a top 5 pick this year.... but it looks like they might finish where they always finish... just out of the playoffs, which is fine and dandy with me.
The Flames of the last 20 years love being just bad enough to miss the playoffs or just good enough to get in. They should have started a full rebuild last year and potentially have a good team in the early years of the new arena.

Flames, as usual, have a collection of "good" players, but no elite ones...not even "Very good" players since Kadri is washed and Huberdeau too (still contribute enough despite the massive overpays))

Andersson, Weegar, Coleman, Zary, Sharagovich, Coronato....all good players and prospects but nothing exciting

but again, all depends if Wolf can continue playing a .926 save % clip if they stay in the playoff hunt

It's funny how history repeats itself.

I'll give it no later than October next season when we start hearing about their "depth" and "balance" and how they're the "best in the league at X" (I'm gonna go with goaltending this time) again on the back of a few attractive paper moves in the off season.

Then they will fall flat on their face, like they always do. You can set a clock to this cadence for the Flames:

Season where they are deemed "contenders" - miss the playoffs by a mile and are shit for the season

Season where everyone thinks they'll crater - vastly exceed expectations, win the division, etc.

In both scenarios they never actually make it anywhere, so it's fun to watch from afar. I personally kind of thought they would perform how they have been to start the season for no other reason than it's just what that team has always done.

Boston fans sound just like us for a lot of this year.

"We make every goalie look like Hasek" lol

13-2 High Danger chances and they are losing 1-0

Outshooting VAN 30-12

Shot attempts are 55 to 19.
Just was thinking about Vancouver and their sieve less goaltending. Going to get a shutout, no question.
They play such limp dick hockey. Not a lot of shots. Get away with a few for sure calls. Goalie saves all of their defensive blunders.

No dead cat bounce for the B's

DeBust embarrassed them to add salt to the wounds
Common now. The Nucks were atrocious lol. Garland had 1 wrist shot chance and they had another and that's about it. Bruins were much much much better.

Debrusk got a puck bounce to him off of a nearly high stick from garland.

Debrusk has looked completely average this year
