He applied for several coaching vacancies in the off season.

He couldn’t coach a zone defence when KK made the Oilers the 5th best defensive team coaching a zone defence and didn’t adjust to Vegas taking advantage of his hybrid system while continuing to play the inferior goalie.

I imagine when he was asked about this, his response about growing up in a middle class family that was proud of their lawn wasn’t satisfactory.

With his sparkling resume of 9 goals and 18 points in 89 NHL games and a career where he's spent more time in rehab than on the ice, I'd be over the moon if I was him with a grossly inflated contract like that, so you are correct on his state of bliss.

I do however, think we'll be okay with McDavid, Draisaitl, Hyman, Skinner (X2), Arvidsson, Nuge, Bouchard, Ekholm, Janmark, Henrique, Brown, etc, etc, so coping shouldn't be an issue, thanks.

If I were a GM I would shy away from him for the fact that he likes hearing himself speak too much. That kind of hubris requires a track record to back it up, and he just doesn’t have it.

He thinks he’s the smartest guy in the room to his detriment.
