Oh no, he's only on pace for 17 even strength goals and a +16 in limited minutes while getting used to a new team for the first time in his pro career!

Guess we learned, that'll show us!

Edit: yep this is a real 'gotcha' alright

Embarassing the lengths people will go to to justify bad asset management after everything we've seen
I was just jibbing at the assertion he was going to be a raging success because he scored a couple of goals… the need for people to start bitching about it despite the small sample size. It can still go either way and to be clear I hope he finds his niche and kills it.

I mean people were even ‘counting’ his disallowed goal as proof he will thrive outside of the org. Yet if anyone did that to defend a poorly performing current player they’d rightly be mocked for it. Disallowed goals mean nothing for anyone.

The sample size was (still is) too small too objectively judge. You rightly point out that’s he’s hardly played for them (or anyone for 12 months).

The earliest to judge the Kaliyev situation is end of the season. Even then it’d be fair to argue he’d need a bit more time

There's nothing to 'win' even if he is what it is

It's the water carrying for a dogshit front office that's laughable
No it's your misplaced anger excusing a piss poor player that the organization tried to get to add aspects to his game instead of standing still waiting to get fed pucks on a platter.

Kaliyev is Kaliyev's problem, not the Kings. He had these issues from day 1. The real mistake was drafting him in the first place.

Just saw Byfield, Laf, Akil Thomas, and Jordan Spence at the Grammy's.
Good I think these guys need to get into the LA scene a little and get into some fun.
In the cup era it felt more like you could say “we” when talking about the Kings. They were part of the city and representing us.
Now when I talk about them I say “they.” Its like a Manhattan Beach club and they love ceremony milestone nights for each other and hanging Blake and Luc jerseys at the practice rink where they can be the big cheese.
The young guys gotta get into the city and party with the Angelenos.

If he amounts to nothing, it's a waste of assets from interview to finish

If he amounts to anything, it's the same

The constant rewinding to 'i told you sos' is ignorant because of the above

If this is the case, then he was a bad pick to start. If you read his scouting report, it's almost a line by line assessment of what he is today and his poor play and attitude left him with no trade value. . Bad picks happen all the time to every team , not just the Kings. Hell, Boston had three straight 1st in the 2015 draft and whiff on 2 of them , with Conner, Barzal and Boeser still on the board. It was their version of our 2003 draft.

That's my point though, there's no way the org gets off clean on this, and you have chirps in here going 'i told you so' 2 weeks later as if that somehow makes it better to waste the asset given all we've seen.

This goes back a different path a little bit because I also think they wasted and misused the guy, but for some reason there's a contingent of posters taking a victory lap over another wasted kid.

Seems more to your point is that you want the ORG to run perfectly, not make mistakes, not have bad picks.

Or you just enjoy shaking your fist at the sky these days, as he pointed out EVERY ORGANIZATION HAS BAD PICKS, so....according to you, that's BAD ASSET MANAGEMENT.....so....welcome to Pro Sports, I guess? A lot of things to be pissed over, choosing this one, is f***ing idiotic.
