Around the League 2024-25 season

Ridiculous that the Flames are only 6 points behind us with only 13 regular wins and -10 goal differential.

LA has the 4th best record in the league (.622). Had they gone .500 in the OT/SO they'd be challenging for the President's Trophy right now.

The OT mishaps will haunt the Kings if they find themselves out of a spot after a 4 game slide. It’s not a big losing streak either. I don’t remember the last time the pacific had such a narrow point gap. It’s good the Kings are playing solid hockey but the worst part is that they haven’t even made any real separation at all. They can’t afford to take a few games off at all.

Fully expect Vancouver to shit the bed with all their problems, so at least that keeps them out of the running for now, though its still early and they could turn it around (doubtful). I expect Seattle to keep coming along with Calgary. The locks that will prob miss the playoffs are the Sharks and Ducks.

Why it may be different this year (overly optimistic take).

LA has the most home games remaining, and their home record has been great so far, Vegas is sending 7 players to the 4 nations tourney so no rest for a 1/3 of their roster, Edmonton has played the most games because they went to the finals last season so fatigue may be a factor.

(and those mushrooms last night did taste a little funny, oh well).

I don't know about the rest of the fandom, but since NHLN has been showing every single WJC game, I have that on all day.

Running out the same 5-6 teams and continuing to market "original six" match up too. Nobody give a shit about original six match ups.

Edmonton is also worse than they were last year IMO. And if Kuemper is better than Skinner, that greatly increases our chances against them in the playoffs.

However, LA has the 9th most difficult schedule in the league remaining (in terms of opponents), while Vegas has one of the easiest:

The last outdoor game I cared about was the one in Tahoe, because it looked so cool and was staged in such a different environment.

I couldn't care less for any of the Winter Classic and Stadium Series games. Never had any interest in attending one either. The sightlines look so awful for a hockey game.

I watched the Avs/Sabs - there was some solid hate in that game.. the way it used to be.. my favorite thing was watching Ruff call a timeout with 20 secs left to overthink it, and subsequently give up the tying goal. Watching Mac Mak and Rant is guaranteed entertainment.. esp on the PP.

I always thought these stadium series outdoor games were just a cash grab by the leauge

I see this as a management group backing a coach in a power struggle with a room that had too much stroke. Its an ugly unraveling process for a team that wasn't good enough to get over the top.
