Interesting, looking at the Ducks/Oil game stats, I see that the NHL only records the double minor as a single pp. That’s completely wrong statistically as if you score in the first pp only that is chalked off and you get another go (unless I missed a rule change). So they need treating as separate pp opportunities.

I also think it's bonkers the way they treat 5-minute majors. If you score multiple powerplay goals during a major, they assign "multiple penalties".

So if you only get a major powerplay and score 2 goals, you don't go 2/1. You go 2/2.

It happens so rarely, and usually there are other powerplays that don't get scored on. But I know I've seen it during intermission reports.

I took my kid to see Ovechkin last night, I am appreciative towards my father for taking me to see the all-time greats in all the sports when I was growing up, so I'm trying to do the same. I thought the injury was going to kill his chances at the record this year, but now I think he is going to break the record this season and then retirement is always a possibility. He scored from Ovechkin's office, so she will be able to say she saw the greatest goal-scorer ever score a goal in person.

BTW, if Ovechkin were to maintain his current pace, he would break the record around 30 games from now, the Caps 30th game is in LA vs the Kings. 8 of the Caps final 12 games (where I think it's more realistically going to be broken) are going to be on the road, which kind of sucks, it was so memorable when Gretzky broke it at home.

See that’s wrong also. It should definitely be 2/1.
