Good for Todd. Detroit is where he started his NHL coaching career.

His merits as a coach have been debated around here, it will be interesting to see if he's able to improve the Red Wings.

Detroit is currently 28th in the league and stuck in a cycle of losing. No where to go but up.

He will get the organised and playing structured hockey. The roster also lacks a Kopitar or Doughty to ride so he shouldn’t overplay veterans (you’d think).

Decent guy, wish him well. I’d be interested in how long his deal is though but at least it means,,presumably, he’s off the LA books.

Outside of Buffalo, there's an argument to be made Detroit is the worst team in the league to be a fan of.

Bad team. No real hope for the future. Headed nowhere. Medicore prospect pool.

Tmac probably gonna help them win just enough games to prevent them from getting a top 5 pick.

Good for McLellan. I got frustrated with his decisions, but I'm still unsure how much of it was him versus a directive from Blake/Robitaille of just trying to make the playoffs. I generally liked his points when talking about coaching, and how things have changed since he became an assistant.

Without the expectations of making the playoffs and with some young players to guide, it should be a good situation for him.

TM barely gives the kids a shot. Look at the amount of young players playing this year vs last.

Detroit is rebuilding, this is terrible. Yzerman is overrated. He's made some terrible trades and his team is soft as shit.

Term etc doesn’t always get revealed until down the line. Even then it’ll likely get soft leaked rather than anything formal. The timing of the hire itself seemed to catch everyone out so I’m not expecting to terms to come out yet.
