This is only Verbeek’s 3rd season in charge. Granted he does seem to be muddying up their rebuild with a bunch of overpaid veteran slugs, Trouba being the latest, but I don’t know why “bad team that is trying to be bad is bad” is supposed to be noteworthy.
Their youth has been hyped up for years and we have yet to see them take steps in improving.
This happened when they had a blueline that consisted of the likes of Fowler, Lindholm, Theodore, Montour, and it’s carried over today.
Zegras and McTavish have regressed, they already have moved on from their first round picks from 2020, Cutter Gauthier was supposed to be top six talent and is about as productive as another disappointment that we’re witnessing this season with Byfield.
I fail to see what makes the Ducks be considered a team that’s in a better position than the Kings. Unless you want to believe in their hype, like many did with the Kings after their supposed rebuild.
