It's been debunked numerous times by Faber, and those that cover hockey in Minnesota at the college and professional level. \
And the part that always gets left out, Faber already left Minnesota once to advance his hockey career, when he was 16 to play for the NTDP in suburban Detroit. The distance between Detroit and Minneapolis is roughly the same as the distance between LA and Salt Lake City, so it's not like he moved an hour or two away.
Faber and his advisors made the decision that returning to Minnesota for his age 20 junior season was a better development environment than playing for the Ontario Reign, it was without question the correct decision by him and his advisors.
If the Kings took it as a slap in the face or were worried he was going to play four years and bolt they made another poor read. Had Faber gone that route he would be playing on year 1 of his ELC this season, instead of playing year 3 and getting ready to make $8.5m next season.
I still can't believe I got crucified on X by large account "Drew's Burner" this offseason because I said I would NOT do the Fiala trade over. I simply said in hindsight, Faber and a 1st round pick is an ASS beating by Minnesota. Turned into a whole big thing with him quote tweeting and getting his followers to join in, but he used that rumor (Faber not wanting to sign with us) to support his argument. Was annoying
Fiala is highly overrated on Kings twitter for scoring pretty goals
It's one thing if people thought it was a good trade at the time, because the Kings needed offense or they thought Faber was just an unproven prospect, but to still be arguing that the Kings won the trade or don't regret it is downright insane. You are probably wasting your time if you are arguing with someone like that.
I don't think that any team would take two Fiala's over Faber. And good thing there aren't two Fiala's, a couple of periods with 2 Fiala's and poor
@bland would be like the guy in that Smile movie I saw last night that smashed his own face in with a barbell.
