sorry to interrupt the McDavid candle light vigil but on a side note, who spread the Faber doesn’t want to be on the Kings rumor?
Didnt the team come out with a press release that said that among other stuff?

There was also something about a physically challenged sibling that faber wanted to be near.
I do remember that the entire deal was actively challenged as bullshit.

I don't know who started it. Plenty spread it when they saw he was from Minnesota, and people like to spread conspiracy theories.

That was a poster here. Complete nonsense, but whoever it was stuck to it for months. Faber was interviewed and he said he was happy to play for the kings and was surprised by the trade (paraphrasing).

I think it also got twisted that he declined to sign with the Kings as he wanted to return to college for unfinished business and some people took that as "he doesn't want to be here"

I think this was the only reason that "rumor" came from. People panicked when he didn't sign and took it as he didn't want to sign in LA and everyone ran with it as the gospel truth. Faber has always denied that he never wanted to sign in LA.

The rumor was widespread for a reason. I remember reading some verified guy on twitter posted about having that knowledge in regards to the situation. I just wish we remembered who it was that lied like that

I still can't believe I got crucified on X by large account "Drew's Burner" this offseason because I said I would NOT do the Fiala trade over. I simply said in hindsight, Faber and a 1st round pick is an ASS beating by Minnesota. Turned into a whole big thing with him quote tweeting and getting his followers to join in, but he used that rumor (Faber not wanting to sign with us) to support his argument. Was annoying

Fiala is highly overrated on Kings twitter for scoring pretty goals

It's been debunked numerous times by Faber, and those that cover hockey in Minnesota at the college and professional level. \

And the part that always gets left out, Faber already left Minnesota once to advance his hockey career, when he was 16 to play for the NTDP in suburban Detroit. The distance between Detroit and Minneapolis is roughly the same as the distance between LA and Salt Lake City, so it's not like he moved an hour or two away.

Faber and his advisors made the decision that returning to Minnesota for his age 20 junior season was a better development environment than playing for the Ontario Reign, it was without question the correct decision by him and his advisors.

If the Kings took it as a slap in the face or were worried he was going to play four years and bolt they made another poor read. Had Faber gone that route he would be playing on year 1 of his ELC this season, instead of playing year 3 and getting ready to make $8.5m next season.

It's one thing if people thought it was a good trade at the time, because the Kings needed offense or they thought Faber was just an unproven prospect, but to still be arguing that the Kings won the trade or don't regret it is downright insane. You are probably wasting your time if you are arguing with someone like that.

I don't think that any team would take two Fiala's over Faber. And good thing there aren't two Fiala's, a couple of periods with 2 Fiala's and poor @bland would be like the guy in that Smile movie I saw last night that smashed his own face in with a barbell.

I actually didn't think it was going to be an argument, I had talked Kings with the guy before and he was cool, but this delved into a big thing with his followers calling me braindead among other things for the take. Probably why I'm still a little salty about it anytime I see the topic come up  I stay off Kings twitter these days

Speaking of Faber he had a nice goal vs Tampa tonight.
Anderson-Faber
XX-Clarke
XX-Spence
Would have been a good setup for the post Doughty Kings team to transition into. All homegrown draft picks also which is really hard to pull off.

Don't remember if he was verified and don't think he started it, but Andrew Knoll definitely posted it on Twitter that Faber wasn't going to sign anyway. I just remember because when I mentioned it on here someone who stepped in his defense got personal with me about it and said that I was the type of person to think women deserve to be sexually harassed. Definitely one of the more bizarre accusations that I remember.

Isn’t that dangerous reporting to say that if it’s not true?

Also wtf who would say that?

I think some reputable stated it too. That’s how it took off. It’d be really good to know who it was.
It started on here! It was spitball speculation on here that ended up being taken as a ‘rumour’ by some ‘fan site/pod’… it then just escalated. 100%. The absolute first place it appeared was on here.

Yes. The ‘story’ was that he wasn’t going to sign… the speculation that followed on here was that it was because he wanted to be in MN and not LA because of his family. That is the part that started on here. The truth is that he wanted to stat in college.

That's part of why the argument started. @Herby will likely remember parts of this, because we were talking about how a reporter wrote something false, I corrected him on Twitter, he asked me to provide a source (i.e. do his job after he was the one who posted it), then he deleted it. And to my memory, he never posted a correction, but in his defense, I stopped following him.

Also wtf who would say that?
I haven't seen any arguments this poster has had with anyone else, and so I'm not going to name them. They can say their piece if they want. But I put them on ignore. It's not one of the usual suspects people here argue with, to their credit.

Steve valiquette sez save % across the nhl is at a 30year low.
So are there just alot of poor goaltenders or any ideas on whats causing this?
Bettman must be very happy

Diluted talent pool plus equipment changes. I can't prove it, but it seems like powerplays are up as well.
Yea I think you got it. Lots of talent/skill with better stick flex while stopping goalie equipment from getting bigger. Though goalies with size are more popular now.
But mostly lots of powerplays I think is the biggest reason.
Also defenders had to stop doing certain things to clear the front of the net because they were getting penalized for it.
Offensive dmen were less of a thing in the past also and they lead to more odd man rushes against.
