I think Florida is the real deal which... They should be, but you never know after a cup run.

The Metro looks to be much better this year ... so far.

Be different to see 5 teams from that side get in. Probably 4 and 4 though this year.

Atlantic looks to be evening out. Leafs need to go on a nice run.

Next 3 are pretty big. Find a way.

I'm not sure playing the 3 worst teams in the division can be considered "big". It's three games the Leafs should win going away.
They are big in the....we need to win all three games kind of way. It is an opportunity to separate ourselves from the pack of mid. Hopefully we don't puke over ourselves like we have a couple times so far.

Wow. That Pens depth is horrible.

They've pretty much loaded up one line and then have Lars Eller as their 2C.

Makes me laugh that people defended that Guentzel trade by saying they got a roster player back in Bunting to remain more competitive than getting a 1st, and now the guy has literal negative value and is a cap dump

Makes me laugh when people think getting a conditional 1st (that turned into a 2nd) instead of a 1st was about Bunting (who has played at a 50 point pace with Pittsburgh), and not the 3 additional prospects that they prioritized.

It was never a first

It was a conditional 2nd with the slim chance of becoming a 1st. It doesnt work the other way around lmao. You start with the lower value and then you upgrade it once the condition is met. What was more likely to happen, the canes dont make a cup final so they get a 2nd, or the canes make the final? Its like 10:1 odds or more that the canes wouldnt make the finals lmao. And even if they DID make the finals, then that pick they get is literally 31st or 32nd. So he essentially just settled for a pick guaranteed in the 31-50 range instead of potentially getting a pick in the 20s.

And how are those other 3 prospects working out for your boy dubbie? Are they actively contributing to the Pens and their amazing success? No theyre not, not a single piece he got back is helping them out right now

But what a surprise, you instantly jump to the defence of your boy for another one of his blunders.

That's a little disingenuous. Neither would any draft picks they would have received instead.

Carolina got the best piece no matter which way you cut it, but it was obvious from the jump that Pittsburgh was targeting players that had already been partially developed than raw picks.
Bunting is having a bad season, yes, but the collection of Lucius, Koivunen, and Pono was the haul they wanted and so far they're looking decent

It was a conditional 1st. The conditions weren't met, so it turned into a 2nd.
NHL.com: "Jake Guentzel was traded to the Carolina Hurricanes by the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday for forward Michael Bunting, forward prospects Vasily Ponomarov and Ville Koivunen, the rights to forward Cruz Lucius, a conditional first-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft, and a conditional fifth-round pick in the 2024 draft."

The prospects are doing fine. They're not actively contributing to the NHL team this year, but neither would draft picks.

What a surprise. You instantly jump to attack the Leaf's former GM by misrepresenting and excluding the majority of the return in a pretty normal trade.
