The Bruins are back in it. f***, man, that franchise just keeps going and going.

Noting that they've played 28 games, and everyone else is mostly between 23-25, Florida at 26 games. They are in a wild card spot, in % though.... But, they do have the second best last 10 in the division, and the bottom half of the division is absolutely finding new ways to suck even harder.

Buffalo had 23 points, after 21 games on November 23rd... now they've picked up ONE point in the last four games... Meanwhile, Boston had 23 points on the same date, and now has 31.

They have had a very soft schedule the past month. After we drubbed them 4-0 a month ago, the only playoff teams they've faced have been the Stars and Canucks, who soundly beat them 7-2 and 2-0 respectively. They are still good structurally and can defend well, but I expect the talent gap up front to get exposed more as the season wears on and they face better teams.

Wow. How are they a 6 billion dollar industry?

500k out of 370 million people is terrible. They cant get too much for that.

Makes no sense. I wonder if the next rights will be cheaper. No one watches

I think unless you grew up watching it hockey is a hard game to get into because it's so fast and is a complicated sport.

Tennis, baseball, golf are all no-brainer sports that anyone can enjoy watching. Soccer and football are a little more complicated but played at slower speeds and larger fields. The closest comparable would be basketball but even then it's a little slower and less complicated.

It's not easy to keep up with the play a lot of time, especially if you don't know what to look for, then it would just seem like you'd be watching ten guys going back and forth at break neck speeds takings shots and occassionally punching each other in the face.

Yep. It’s pathetic that none of Buffalo, Detroit, or Ottawa took the opportunity with Boston struggling to leapfrog them in the standings. A testament to just how bad all of their rebuilds have been.

But think of the massive savings in Ottawa. That counts for something, right?

Habs get a pass? How many top picks do they need for a rebuild?

2016 1st pick 9th OA - Sergachev, traded for Drouin
2018 3 OA Kotkaniemi - lost to Offer sheet
2019 15th OA Caufield... hey, a good pick
2020 16th Guhle - He's been... ok
2022 1st OA - Slavkovsky - I think he'll be good one day... he's a complimentary player, in need of a play driving good C.
2023 5th OA Reinbacher years away from being good.
2024 5th OA Demidov - KHL.

Part of their problem is not being bad enough to get elite talent, and selecting guys that are going to take a long time to develop or contribute. They seem to win just enough, to be out of the top picks. They've gone on a good streak again, and have moved out of the bottom of the league. They also selected first, in a year without a truly elite player in it... They've been bad, but not bad enough.. they've picked poorly too... Reinbacher over Michkov will haunt them for a long time.

Their prospect pool desperately needs a top C... but they are going to need to finish bottom three to do that.... which they will likely be just good enough not to do. They should be selling assets over 25, and tanking this year... it's a decent year for good C's.

Yzerman has got to be one of the worst gms at FA signings since his time in Detroit. Like pretty much every single signing has been a complete dud.
His reputation has really gone into the gutter. They've also had some shit luck with the lottery, but it looks pretty damn bleak for them for a while. Part of me feels bad for Larkin, I know he chose to stay there but he's a local boy who is living his dream of being a Red Wing and it's turned into a nightmare. He will be 29 this upcoming year and have played his most productive years for a team that is going nowhere, with no hope in sight. No playoff games since his rookie season either.

They have some bad contracts that only stupid GMs would want to trade for in Anderson and Gallagher.
It seems like they have been picking in the top 10 for a decade :)

Next best thing to a leaf win is a habs loss. But not too many….I would love to see them constantly finish just below a playoff spot :)

No love for 2017 first rounder Ryan Poehling. He once scored a hatrick against the Leafs in his first NHL game

Love the Golden Shooter rule being discussed.

Each team gets to pick one player to get a penalty shot if the game is scoreless after the 2nd. period.

The goal will count in the stats for the shooter, but will not be counted as a goal against the pitcher goalie.

And it isn't April 1st. except in baseball.

Just KIDDING!!!

They should do the Goalie Shootout after a tie in the 2nd period. Just have each goalie go to a shootout. The goalie who score will help his team gets a 3mins PP in the start of the 3rd. If both goalies score, they each take the shootout again until a winner is declare.

Ya.. but Montembeault has been decent... his contract isn't terrible... and several teams need upgrades in goalies..... He's too old to be great when the Habs could theoretically improve... to me, this is a critical year for them to grab a Hagens, Misa Move him.

Dvorak, Matheson, Evans, Armia all guys they could move and make themselves worse. Retain on one of Gallagher or Anderson and move them.... they only have one spot available for retention.

They can't even be good, at being bad.

I didn't realize how old Monty was. The way he's been talked about, you'd think he's some young up and coming kid, but he just turned 28 a couple months ago.

Looking more and more like he got carried by Brisebois in Tampa Bay. So many misses. Their drafting is still pretty decent I think?

Is it? I'm not too familiar with their pool, but aside from the Raymond and Seider draft picks (both of which were lottery selections), who else is tracking well? Those Kasper and Edvinsson kids are looking decent but they're still rookies pretty much, while nobody else has seemed to really made a mark. I know Cossa is highly regarded and has had a nice start to his pro career, but am not too familiar with the others. They had 51 picks between 2019-2023 and thus far it's only the aforementioned names that seem to be noteworthy.
