Rangers gonna grab one of those spots for sure.

Pens look finished.

Malkin and Crosby a combined -38 with a combined 22 goals after 50 games.

That core along with Letang is aging out with no good young talent around them to do the heavy lifting.

Fighting for a playoff spot could be exactly what the Rangers need to go on a long run.

Senators have been shutout a whopping FIVE times this month.

They don't have a single player with over twenty goals. Looks like reality is setting back in. It's like when I wake up in the morning from a really good dream.

Only to look in the mirror and realize nothing's changed.

New owner, new GM, new coach. Still the same old loser team. They haven't even made the playoffs in seven years.

So hard to believe the Leafs only have one more series win than them that whole time.

At what point does Ottawa rebuild the rebuild. Start looking at moving on from some of the big names. Because right now they're one of the worst teams of all time.

The entire organization is pathetic.
I don't think Brady Tkachuk will be in Ottawa after this season.

His NMC takes effect in July. If they don't make a move, he'll run out his contract and walk. By then, Ottawa will have not seen playoff action for 10 years.

They should’ve hired a good coach last year.

Mitch Hedberg said it best - they used to be bad, they still are, but they used to be, too!

How anyone could look at Travis Green's record in Vancouver and think "this is the coach to lead our young stars to success" is beyond me.

Brady Tkachuk's my favourite non-Leafs player.

He's what I hope Knies turns into. Pretty much the only reason I watch Ottawa anymore is because of him. A couple years ago I had hopes they would turn it around but I've given up on them now and it wouldn't surprise me if he has too.

I'd trade the whole farm and half the roster to get him on the team.

I thought Aundlauer said he'd hire only the best (or something like that). Scraping the bottom of the barrel for a coach never works out.

Green's entire strategy starts with a stretch pass.

Then it's either dump in corner or shot on net. Engage in a board battle or scrum in front of net in order to get the whistle for the offensive zone faceoff. Put out someone who can score and hope they do.

If the puck goes the other way let the goalie handle it.

I was happy when they hired him figuring they’d continue to be a mess.

I lived in Ottawa for a while when I was younger, and went to a bunch of Senators games while I was out there, so I've always had a soft spot for them.

To be honest I got soft spot for all the Canadian teams. Even the french one. I like a few American teams too.

But not as much as I like the Canadian teams.

I am in the same boat. Try as I may I find myself cheering for the Canadian teams in the postseason. Except for Montreal.

That’s awesome by the Avs, get with the program or get out. Just moved off a core piece they’ve WON it all with because the money didn’t work. Guts.
Sakic has bowling balls. Shanny has ping pong balls.

Sakic does not let anybody mess with him.

The road to the SC just got a little more bumpy.

A bold move for sure, and that front office has earned the benefit of the doubt.

But, such a move also can easily blow up.in their faces if they spend the next few years struggling. They lost a pretty significant piece

Sid needs to go to the Avs.

Need to see a McDavid vs Sid - MacKinnon conference final while the leafs face the winner after we've swept through eastern conference 12-0

He was walking for nothing because he wants Draisailtl money and Sakic was not paying him more than MacKinnon. They may be worse today but they will be better in the long run.

If his ask was 14 they probably could have ended up at deal around 13 leveraging the fact that only they could offer the 8th year.

Also, while I understand GMs not wanting to pay other superstars more than their top guy, when the cap is likely to be 13-14 million higher for Rantanen’s first year vs MacKinnon’s it becomes a bit unreasonable to use Nate as a ceiling

Not sure it’s the hill worth dying on.

Necas isn’t half the player Rantanen is

Gotta assume Tulsky has plans to re-sign Rantanen somehow.

If not this is a VERY questionable trade. This is nothing like the Guentzel situation. They gave up Michael Bunting and a handful of magic beans to rent Guentzel last year.

Martin Necas is a very good hockey player with term left on a decent contract.

If Rantanen doesnt re-sign Tulsky should be fired. Because otherwise the only way to win this trade is by winning the cup. It really doesn't take balls to make a trade like this.

Stupidity helps though.

This reminds me of a fling I once had. She was wanting Red Lobster while I was talking Burger King. Rantanen is looking for a gourmet meal and I doubt the Hurricanes will be serving prime rib.

So Tulsky somehow needs to convince Rantanen a whopper with cheese is fine dining worth sticking around for.

He's gone from Colorado because they wanted him gone. Could be for a myriad of reasons, but what's striking is that they have moved from three paid superstars to two, and seem to be content building around 1D/1C, in a pretty bold way.

You have to think the due diligence is already done on that.
