I just don't understand how we are talking about Babcock getting canned, unless something additional comes up which is certainly a possibility. Like I said, is it weird? Yes. Would that type of request most likely get you a talking to from the HR department in most jobs? Yes. Is it so bad that someone should get fired over it? No. Not even Mike Babcock with his track record.

It would get you more than a talking to in a regular job as someone in a position of authority asking this of their subordinates though. It would probably get you fired.

Hockey is different though. And I don't think he should be fired if they don't find anything more nefarious, or that he pressured anyone, during the investigation.

There was undoubtedly unspoken pressure to share personal photos though given his position. That's a problem, but I'm not sure it's worth firing him if there's not much more to it. He should get a very short leash though.

But we're basically just relying on Mike Babcock's side of the story that this was no big deal.

Which isn't wise given he felt like all the other weird cruel shit he did wasn't a big deal either. And the idea that it was no big deal has been contradicted by multiple players with Columbus.

I don't know how you guys have it in the US, but here in Finland you can't fire someone just because he's a bit of a weirdo or a dickhead. He would actually need to do something more serious. And to me, this is not that, at least with the way I've understood the situation.

Should correct myself a bit here, talking about firing here in as in contract termination. Obviously you could always tell people not to show up but pay their full salary...

I just think that's a huge stretch. He's a guy with a ton of NHL connections who got a DM about Babs/CBJ and says he reached out to confirm it with a member of "the" team. Not "his" team. It absolutely could be with the org/assistant coach/trainer or whatever but he's clearly talking about Columbus in his tweet. All feels like a moot point anyways because we've already got confirmation some didn't like it.

Yeah I don't even think it's that bad. Something clearly has happened tho. How big/small is up for everyone to decide but it's not just some narrative created by Spitting Chicklets that came out of nowhere. Sure they poured gasoline on the fire with his history but it clearly wasn't made up.
To me, Biz running loosely with facts is more plausible given his history.

Except that both Jenner and Gaudreau have also both said it was natural and no big deal. In fact, Johnny said it was a fantastic way to get to know each other.

10-15 years ago it might have been the same here.

But now people realize that something like a boss in a position of authority asking to see all their subordinate's phones so they could go through their photos and put them on a TV, would be viewed as an abuse of their power, because there undoubtable would be people who didn't want to share their personal property and private moments, but felt pressured to do so because they were worried about potential consequences if they didn't.

Even if the boss wouldn't have done anything if they said no and even if they didn't verbally pressure them in any way.

I could see it if he hadn't doubled down so much. IMO it's pretty clear he's talked to someone. It's confirmed something happened anyways so doesn't really matter because clearly he was telling the truth in this case.

I would 100% agree that nobody would care at all if this wasn't Babs and SC is a pro player podcast that knew what they were doing. Just like all the other former players.

You're forgetting that best in the business Elliotte Friedman confirmed multiple players didn't like it.

I don't know what happened, but I wouldn't be surprised if vets wrongly came to the defense of their coach, just like they've done countless times in the past.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's OK and would definitely lead to some consequences here as well. But firing? Nah. It would lead to a stern talking to and whatnot, but this is not such a strike that would warrant a firing IMO.

Now it's a bit different in sports, because usually when a coach is fired, his contract is not terminated. He's just told not to come to work, while still picking up his salary. I don't think Columbus wants to do that, nor that this incident (with the info we have so far) would have any grounds of terminating the contract.

I 100% believe he’s telling the truth in a photo thing happening. It has always happened at each stop with Babcock. How he is presenting it, that’s a completely different story. That’s the nuance here.

That Semin release was nasty. But it had to feel good though (for Caps fans).

*Ahem* I'll see myself out.
Yeah, as a fan who saw Kane and Toews just explode when they came in as rookies, it must be like you feel something warm deep inside you again when he penetrates the slot and shoots it in like that with a quick release.

Hey, where did everybody go?
