Isn't that old news? He told ages ago he was leaving after the season from what I have understood.
 
Fantastic. The league needs Roy to bring some more personality back to it. Losing out in popularity to MLS is just sad. Soccer overtaking hockey in popularity seems like a given eventually and makes sense. MLS is just not a top tier league or great showcase of it

It is not terribly uncommon for owners to be in on the interviews and a part of the process. Andlauer is currently a minority owner of the Canadiens, and he's been a part of their processes over the ~15 years. He was heavily involved in their last go round that included Roy (and he pushed for him there as GM).
 
I'm not a Laviolette fan and I wouldn't be hiring him... but prior to his stint in Washington, his prior 3 teams went to the Finals. Given a full season, he's made the playoffs 10 of his last 12 seasons. He's a better coach than people give him credit for on HF.
