"Welcome to St Louis Blues hockey, where Jordan Binnington was more interested in imitating Ron Hextal in everything but actual goaltending."
Shanahan's decisions, he has the final say. Dubas wanted more control and a higher pay and wanted to eliminate Shanny's job and do both himself.I don't at all. I think Dubas corned himself with his stupid 'we can and we will' comment. Basically forced himself to keep four overpaid forwards (his making) and not trading one to balance his team out properly.
Basically he chose pride of making correct decisions. His star players let him down in the postseason for sure, but the defensive groups he put together were obviously not going to win anything.
Dubas said he could do both rolls and wanted them and paid.Ohhhhhhhhhh boy Shanny boy showing us he's the impetuous meathead we all thought he was from the beginning.
That's f***ing ridiculous. One goddamn presser and you just decide to change plans? So stupid that a professional sports organization is run so haphazardly.
I like how they do Coyotes hockey and women's gymnastics.
Multiple sources close to the team said that Shanahan had blocked transactions that Dubas wanted to make at key points in the past several seasons, creating frustration in parts of the management group. Shanahan had also at times dictated certain moves he wanted made that Dubas didn’t agree with.
The president, as per his place in the hierarchy, typically won out in those battles. And, in some cases, the moves that weren’t made could have improved the Leafs’ ability to advance further in the playoffs.
The friction in the Leafs front office and the relationship between the two men was still a factor, however, and Dubas’ desire for greater autonomy from Shanahan is believed to have been one of the untold reasons for how things ultimately played out.
Marek and Friedman were insisting in a podcast this week that Shanahan is close to Nylander because he's the first guy that they picked when he got hired in Toronto and he his special to him. I didn't understand why they were saying it but with this information it now looks like they knew Shanny blocked any Nylander trade.Shanahan had blocked transactions that Dubas wanted to make at key points in the past several season
What does Shan-Satan do exactly?Mirtle: With Kyle Dubas gone, prepare for more Maple Leafs front-office fallout
The Maple Leafs' parting ways with Kyle Dubas is likely the beginning of front-office upheaval with the team.theathletic.com
Unfortunate that there's already the Edmonton Oilers, because I just discovered this and now want the Houston Oilers hockey team
Hope so for the sake of a future Crosby to Colorado trade.Wonder if Dubas ends up in Pittsburgh?
Mirtle in The Athletic already published some vague accounts of Shanny vetoing trades.I mean Shanahan better have a good backup plan ready. Because there's not much time.
It will be interesting to hear Dubas' side of the story eventually.
Probably made by a disgruntled Oilers fanHey, if you're looking for a good time then head on over to the main boards and read the thread about whether it's time for a Canadian only professional league. f***ing excellent shit in there. The summary is: Canada is the best hockey nation, but bettman and taxes ruin it so all the Canadian markets are at a disadvantage, they can't sign FA, except for those that they do. It's not fair. Canada deserves a cup.
Didn't Makar go back to NCAA an extra year and it paid off big time.I think Logan Cooley going back to university should send major red flags to the Coyotes. What the f*** does he need to do there? Guy dominated the NCAA last season, he doesn't need to keep playing there.
This has trade written all over it. Obviously they'll never let him walk to UFA without signing.
Yeah, but Makar hadn't just completely destroyed the NCAA and been a finalist for the Hobey Baker.Didn't Makar go back to NCAA an extra year and it paid off big time.
