They don’t have to worry about sticking up for Byram. Every time Avs play Vegas, they need to go at them. If you hit few of their guys like they’ve done to Byram, next time they’ll think twice before taking runs like that

Was there really anyone out there cautioning against taking Lafreniere 1OA or even really cautioning against taking him high up?

I thought it was pretty much a consensus him then Byfield. I'll never understand the hesitation to take Stutzle in the top two. I think both NYR and LAK would probably like a mulligan on the 2020 draft.
Me , never believed he would be anything but a 3rd line grinder with skill.

Not for #1 but a top 10 pick yes.

I never saw it with Byfield or Turcotte either

If I were a Sabres fan I'd be very concerned with Devon Levi's preseason performances.
He isn't ever gonna be a starter. I can't believe the hype he has gotten

People think that the bo hit deserved a fight? It was a completely legal and perfectly fine hit. Just because your guy got hit doesn't make it a bad hit. Everyone on the team probably saw it for the hockey play it was. No fighting necessary. Bo has to do better and honestly probably needed a vet to get at him over trying to stick handle behind his own net and getting into a bad position. "Bo what the f*** are you doing? Get the puck up and out you raasclart."
I guess if holding and boarding are legal now, then yeah, perfect hit

Byram was the first to notice Burakovsky’s goal against Nashville and he was the first to notice Kadri’s game winner was in the net.

Byram needs to grow a beard and scowl all day every day. Not that it’s better, but it would funny af to do a 180

I posted the Lafreniere/Yakupov tweet for jokes but then I listened to Friedman on 32 Thoughts and wow, it's even worse. Apparently Lafreniere just looked really bad in preseason and they're very concerned about him as a player. Not what you want to hear going into this fourth season.
@S E P H member when I said hes a more physical Huberdeau. Turns out hes just more physical.

Dude Alan Walsh is sensitive AF. I'm a nobody on Twitter, I have maybe 5 tweets and I responded to something he posted around his issues with the cap and I got blocked! He was basically saying there are issues with the cap because some teams might only be able to carry 20-21 players, effectively cutting 50 NHL player jobs.

I responded basically saying something along the lines of "In my opinion it's tough for the players when they have to lose those jobs when a few players are getting paid a larger % of the cap. If the max % of cap space were lowered it means more players would fit and the average pay per player would probably be higher. Instead you have agents pushing for for such high paying contracts for young players, while also paying stars coming off RFA years max term, it's hard to only blame the league"

Strange he'd block a nobody for basically saying that both sides are causing cap issues. How "for the players" can you be when you also force salaries higher as an agent? Those insane contracts are doing just as much to kill NHL jobs.

Fwiw in the Avs board mock draft I traded up and took Stutzle above Byfield. Stutzle just looked way more dynamic and I always thought Byfield being such a straight-line player would potentially not translate as well.

I recall there being questions about whether Lafreniere and Byfield had simply dominated in juniors due to being physically stronger and more developed than most other kids and whether they could find the same success when their physical advantage was removed when making the jump to the NHL against men. Looks like those concerns were somewhat accurate.

And what evidence do you have to lead you to such a conclusion?
well for example he just took a big hit in preseason from a complete nobody trying to do too much on a play and no one came to his defense

pretty well known that Byram is a yappy f*** on the ice and if you're gonna be that way you'd better be able to back it up physically or with elite skill

Perhaps because Vegas got the puck and just scored?

Not every hit separating player from puck and resulting in a scoring chance leads to an automatic fight.

You probably think guys like Marchand, Perry, Zegras, Kadri, etc are despised by their teammates, too.

What makes Benson so good is that he isn't looking for offence, offence is simply coming to him in the form of patience. He definitely deserves 9 games at this point.
If the NHL was popular there would be hours of documentaries in the future asking how a first overall could be so.... unremarkable.
We label NHL as a niche sport all the time, but it is still the 5th most revenue sport after the four in North America and the EPL. E: In the world.

Yeah Benson has earned games IMO. I want to see the offense against full NHL lineups and systems though. I memeber Ty Rattie all too well.

That's a really good point actually. Not surprising he blocked you, probably didn't want you messing with his narrative.

You know who else is like that? Dater lol
