Not too impressed with Bedard so far even if it’s only a preseason
Outside of the handful of highlight reel plays and getting 3 points last night, what part of his rookie preseason games didn't impress you?

He might come into the league like Hughes.
What? No.

I think he’ll put up better numbers than Hughes. Scoring is up but even with that factored in I think bedard is the better player.

But the hype is getting to be a bit much. I think a solid season for bedard would be 55-65 points. I don’t see him approaching ppg his first year but what do I know.
He plays on a shit team with shit teammates otherwise I could see 70+ pts. As is probably in the low 60s.

Crosby, McDavid, Bedard.

We'll be lucky to watch McDavid and Bedard in their prime at the same time.
I for one am lucky watching MacKinnon and Makar in their prime at the same time. Although Makar is still not in his prime yet.

I don’t mind watching Crosby and McDavid as well, and we’ll see with Bedard

Finally a jump

Every year a jump is expected. You can go back each year and see the same thing. It is like clockwork at this point.

That said, we should see a ~5% jump. Any more than that requires negotiations with NHLPA and that is unlikely to be fruitful.

Just noticed that ol' Pauly Walnuts is still sitting around without a team. He said after last season he was going to take his time and decide whether or not to continue. I'm not pushing for the Avs to go get him, just wondering if this is the end of the line. I found it rather surprising that he never went for the big, long-term deal. He got paid well by the Blues, but that was not long-term. After that he kinda did what Sakic did in the latter stages of his career and just took short-term contracts with various teams.

It shouldn't matter at all. Get with the times, 'Murica.

For real though... this whole RSN business could be difficult. Arizona's contract was near $15m per... they have to hope to make that up with this over the air agreement and take on a lot of risk. I think there are still 11 teams up in the air with the bankruptcy... but even on the low end say they average $20m per... another $220m of HRR at stake there alone. Vegas already switched to OTA... and FSG had to buy the local RSN for the Penguins. We're probably talking ~260++ at risk. Now the whole amount won't be lost... but half is easily possible. Which would be a $2m hit against the cap.

These potential hits won't impact this upcoming cap though. The HRR is two seasons prior. So 22-23 HRR determines cap for 24-25. This would impact somewhere between 25-26 and 27-28 cap depending when the dominoes fall.

And we officially have another over the air team.

Kinda of funny. It's the 21st century and we are going back to rabbit ears on TVs.

I actually meant to have an outdoor antenna installed this summer but just ran out of time after getting the house converted to natural gas and installing the backup generator. Got our first skiff of snow Tuesday and it looks like it's sticking. So maybe next summer.

IMO we are just on the beginning of a transition to OTA to end back up on 'cable' in a decade. This cord cutting is going to cycle back to a large package thing again at some point. I do appreciate teams willing to go this route though. It is way better for the fans, even if it hurts revenues.

That tweet is a bit misleading. Arizona is working on a subscription too, but giving the timing the details are not out yet. They could only formalize this over the last couple days since Diamond dropped their rights to Coyotes games.

Wonder just how much money KSE drops yearly on Altitude? I can't imagine that's a profitable venture.
Up until the last 5 or so years, RSN’s were insanely profitable. Cord cutting has killed the industry (along with rising rights costs). There is almost no profit in the ones that are on all providers… let along ones like Altitude that are not. I imagine they are losing money hand over fist.

Where do you get the 15mill from? I have a hard time believing that, if true though no shit they are bankrupt. I don't even think they were above 10 really. Interesting stuff

You'd think they'd have given up the goose by now, especially given their past business moves. But they're dug in deep and refuse to budge.
