Different mindset. Revenge porn is for, well, revenge. It's malicious.

This was a dumb teenager bragging about getting a BJ.
It negatively impacted another person in a way that differs from a normal sexual encounter. That’s why on a scale of garden variety encounter to revenge porn, for me it ticks just past the halfway mark. He absolutely deserves a second chance and witch hunting the guy out of the league for this would be stupid but that doesn’t mean the impact his actions had on someone else should be minimized as less blameworthy

Don’t get so wrapped up in the “revenge” part. That term has come to encompass anyone who shares video of a sex act without the other person’s consent. It’s a malicious act regardless of the “intent.”

What Mailloux did was beyond the pale and should have cost him his NHL career. Shame on the Habs, they knew this was a supreme f***up and rightfully fired everyone involved in drafting him, but have since done a whole lot of mental gymnastics to try and justify that decision.

Seravalli saying Mailloux paid real price for what he did, I'm trying to figure out what that is.
Yeah, that was disappointing to read. Really dumb on his part.

Come on, now. Cost him his NHL career?

I am all for punishment but that is a bit much.

Ehh I wouldn't go that far. He got what I'd say is a fair punishment and has seemingly earned a 2nd chance.

I’ll just politely disagree here but I very genuinely appreciate that you didn’t do this:
I wouldn’t say holier than thou, but sometimes your takes do seem like they leave no room or possibility for redemption.

We are all imperfect, and we all make mistakes. But not all bad mistakes are made by bad people.

In the face of that, I believe there is something inside a lot of people, that drives them to evolve and grow through their mistakes.

But if we have a society where redemption is absent, and all we have is a harsh punitive posture, the result will be that people cannot learn from their mistakes, atone for them, become better people, make the world a better place, etc. Then we as people can neither grow nor evolve collectively or individually. At the very least, such a punitive position makes it all that much harder.

I wanna phrase this right: first of all matthews has had a stellar season and is an easily the best scorer in the league. However, I looked into it today - he has 6 hat tricks this season not one against a playoff team.

Not watching the game huh? ;)
I’m flipping through games because there are so many important good games, switched to Flyers game and saw EJ celebrating a goal. He didnt get it? Looks like they gave it to Couturier

He deflected it in. He was screening the goalie (for some reason). So it's hard to shoot a shin pad seeker, when you're not the one shooting.

Detroit was offered a playoff spot on a silver platter: finish the season with back to back games against Montreal. Team is tanking, should be an easy 4 points.

Nope. They nearly blew it yesterday but got miraculously saved (late goal in the 3rd to tie it then late goal in OT).

So what do they do tonight?

They suck again, that's what: Trail after 2 and are even getting outshot.
