I think I'm the only person in the world that favors Mario to Wayne.
You definitely aren't but I would still rank Wayne tops overall. Just MHO.
Why wouldn't he mean Brett?edit: nvm you mean the golden jet not Brett.

I didn't know Brodeur ate that manyBrodeur is a top all time goalie in the same way Phil Kessel is a top all time forward.
I’m not a brave man@henchman21 please go on the History board and say Martin Brodeur is a top ten player.
Peak Mario > peak Wayne.I think people gloss over how close Mario truly was to Wayne due to Mario's health issues.

Not in order, just names that I'd clearly have ahead. Brodeur being the all time winningest goalie by a mile, Calder winner, 4x Vezina, 5x Jennings, and 3x Cup winner... it is an absurd resume.
I don't think Foppa would have ever touched the career stuff of Gretzky. Just a wrong era. If there is a player this is debatable with McDavid as the most purely talented, I think Foppa is it. I'd love to see him in his prime today.Foppa, and Mario both are the only two I think have a chance at beating Gretz if they had similar longevity.
Mario is my favorite player that has never played for the Avs.
Oh I don't think Forsberg is anywhere near that conversation.Foppa, and Mario both are the only two I think have a chance at beating Gretz if they had similar longevity.

C'mon, it's a boring Wednesday -- go over there and start some shit. We'll provide moral support from here.I’m not a brave man
who caresI don't think Crosby is in the top 10 best players to play... but he's certainly in the top 10 more important.
you're youngEh, I still just remember seeing the scoring leaders at the time, looking at their numbers, and thinking "Geez, that's it!?" Don't get me wrong, Kovalchuk and Heatley were damn good but I also remember they were paired with such dynamic centers as Tony Hrkac, Lubos Bartecko, and Slava Kozlov. They FINALLY got a legit pivot on their line in Marc Savard, but that was short lived because of the shitshow of an ownership situation in Atlanta.
And yes, Ioved Jagr, but his final three seasons before the lockout were played in mostly in Washington, and those were definitely some of the lowlights of his career. There he was paired with Kip Miller and Robert Lang (slow, meet slower). He wouldn't become the dynamic offensive force he was before IMO until after the lockout, where he played on to this day my favorite line of all time, Straka-Nylander-Jagr. I'm still insanely bitter that the Rangers didn't even bother building off that amazing season.
But yeah, it just didn't feel like there was a ton of talent in the league (or at least YOUNG talent) and it also didn't have a chance to really showcase itself because of the Dead Puck Era rules. I swear I can't even watch highlights from those days because the game just feels like such a GD slog compared to today.
Oh and the goalies at the time had virtually no restrictions on equipment. IMO equipment reductions have probably done more to open up scoring than anything before it, even the rule changes that took away the red line and moved the nets back where they belong. So yeah, it was a goalie-dominated league at the time but there were also severe restrictions on offensive flow, and goalies could wear Michelin Man pads and Garth Snow Specials to block everything in their path (and some stuff that was not in their path).
Because of my age. Barely saw Brett play and certainly not Bobby. Why wouldn't he mean Brett?
I agree. He was helped way too much by TRAP.Brodeur is a top all time goalie in the same way Phil Kessel is a top all time forward.
fourskin it isWatching Oilers Blues game, Skinner just allowed quick 2 goals on like 3 shots or something. It got me thinking, if we gonna give him the 4 goal nick name like fourgiev, will Skinner be the Fourskinner? Because that sounds like something else entirely
I avoid the main boards like a plague anyway… it would be an obvious bait moveC'mon, it's a boring Wednesday -- go over there and start some shit. We'll provide moral support from here.
I think Datsyuk is an all time great and all at the same time relatively overrated all at the same time.Because of my age. Barely saw Brett play and certainly not Bobby.
No love for datsyuk in the Avs forum?
Nuke’s new nickname? I love this spelling. If the Leafs brass weren’t making bad decisions they wouldn’t be making any decisions at allHighman has 40 goals already. Why did the Leafs let this guy go?
Actually, that's perfectWatching Oilers Blues game, Skinner just allowed quick 2 goals on like 3 shots or something. It got me thinking, if we gonna give him the 4 goal nick name like fourgiev, will Skinner be the Fourskinner? Because that sounds like something else entirely
Skinner would have to let in 4 goals 50% of his starts to earn that moniker like Fourgiev lol 4Skin would a hilarious nicknameWatching Oilers Blues game, Skinner just allowed quick 2 goals on like 3 shots or something. Zoidberg was a better 2 way player he just doesnt get the creditI always found it interesting that regardless of defensive accumen/reputation, Babcock almost always turned to Zetterberg in key defensive matchups/situations - not Datsyuk.
Couldn't allocate funds. Tavares killed their cap. They could have Kadri + Hyman instead.Highman has 40 goals already. Why did the Leafs let this guy go?
