Lost in a shootout, but the Flames hit two posts in the shootout. Bad luck again? Although Markstrom had a good game, so actually not bad luck? But they did outshoot the Capitals, so definitely bad luck.

Although the Capitals hit several posts themselves in the third, so maybe good luck after all? Or was it a bad game because the Capitals should have won in regulation if not for their own bad luck?

Tough to keep track of where the luck truly landed in this particular game for the Flames.
Advantage Flames

Canucks can hardly muster any shots on net against the defensive juggernaut Flyers. Contenders, or was it the Oilers making them look good?

This sums up the Oilers defensive play. Most are just standing around watching and not moving, while there's usually one or two more with their backs to play wondering what's going on.

Yamamoto scores his first as a Kraken with a nice wrist shot against the Avalanche. Where was that shot last year for him. Since I have his jersey, can't help but miss him in Edmonton.

Good for Yams. Sucks that our former 1st rounder, beloved by teammates, and a fixture in our top 6 for the last couple years is now playing for a divisional rival at half the cost.

When are the Kraken going to magically start scoring like 5 goals a game again?
That team had a certain mojo about them last year even starting from the preaseason. They don’t look the same this year.

Seeing that Yamo goal though. Guy would've shot it over the net if he was still an Oiler.
Jokes aside, hope he does well in Seattle but not against us when we play the Krakens.

Big and skilled but just can't stay healthy. Wonder if the Habs target anyone early in the season via trade.
I think he could really be a difference maker, tough blow for him and the Habs. But I think they stay put. They know they're in a total rebuild and will likely collect some more picks and prospects at the TD.

Only around 11,000 at the Jets game. Been awhile since we've seen attendance like that at a Canadian game.

I knew that the Jets were having issues with season ticket holder retention and general sales, but that is surprising even taking that into account. It isn't like this is a mundane Tuesday night game against the Coyotes in January either, it's against a good team with the Dubois intrigue early in the season.

Listening to a summer 32 Thoughts podcast, Friedman mentioned that the Jets are tailoring their marketing towards a theme of "we're all in this together." ie. a nice way of saying "everyone better start buying tickets again or the foundation of the organization might get shaky." Winnipeg is not a big town, does not have a ton of money, and does not have a ton of local corporate money that gets dumped into season seats. Things could go south there much quicker than other Canadian markets. I have it on fairly reliable authority that they weren't making much money if any even in the best of times during their Winnipeg 2.0 experience either.

Who moves first. Winnipeg 1.0 or Winnipeg 2.0.

Cale Makar :eek3:

Impressive but not as good as Bobby Orr who started in the NHL at 18 and by the age of 25 had racked up 6 Norris 2 Harts 2 Conn Smythe and an Art Ross which he won with 34 points better than his next nonTeamate 120-86 And was the leading scoring Dman 5 straight seasons Makar started his career at 21 in the regular season
