You know what they should do, roll the all-star game, draft and awards show all into one weekend after the Cup has been won.

All star game Thursday, draft Friday and Saturday, awards show Sunday
I really like that idea. It even ties things together, as you end things with every team having a representative to end things.

Although the obvious problem is that the two SCF teams are probably in no mood to play another game and probably most would wiggle out of it by claiming injury (and honestly it would probably be legit).

I can see that. Players and NHL execs don't want to go to Edmonton in June. Darkness, snow and ice is just not conducive to a good time.

lol.

In fairness I have no issues with warm weather markets getting the All-Star game. Want to have it rotate between LA/Anaheim, San Jose, Vegas, Florida, etc. ... fine ... but I think in return the colder weather markets should get the draft + World Cup events in the summer (and those should be brought back) and perhaps NHL awards too.

Yeah, that crossed my mind too, and another thing is with so many other players not having skated in over two months, who'd want to interrupt their summer. Oh well, just an idea to wrap 2/3 events most hockey fans give less than zero f***s about and put it all into one season end event.

I agree with @CycloneSweep with what he said below beinh a waste of time...the NHL all-star game has become a farce with the gimmick "skills" competitions and tournament style. Go back to conference vs conference or cancel it altogether.
Allstar game is such a waste of time and energy for the players.

Well Bettman promised there would be an ASG here and a draft here if we build the arena. I mean I realize his promise plus 50cents doesn't buy a Coffee at McDonalds but...

Myself though I could care less about these events. I don't watch them. As a kid you'd get excited about it, and its made for kids I suppose. So whether my age likes it or not is irrelevant.

Pretty much the exact meaning of my post.

Coming into the season, I was curious how Bedard would do. I thought his size and skating might hold him back from playing well right away. But from what I have seen so far, I think the kid is going to be pretty good right away.

As much talk about Kostin as there is, he doesnt seem to play much in preseason with Detroit. Maybe hes hurt IDK.

Yeah. Only got in one game. He did get 17mins in the one game but no boxcars. Detroit added a fair amount of depth so its not going to be easy. He'll have to work hard for his minutes in Detroit too its looking like.

As I said, it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if he doesn't pan out there and we can scoop him up at like 1 mill retained or something.

Some role players just don't work as well on certain teams.

Looks like he isn’t even penciled into the starting 12/13 forwards so decent chance he will be on waivers at some point.

Based on salary hes about #8 on the depth chart. Obviously Raymond is ahead of him. I dont know what other rookies may be ahead of him.

I have wondered with him that maybe theres an issue with practice with him. Could be a communication thing. Or something else. From St. Louis to Edmonton to Detroit. He doesnt seem like he plays as much as talent level indicates.

On the left Debrincat, Rasmussen, Fabbri, Berggren are above him. On the right Raymond, Perron, Sprong and Fischer.

No idea who he is currently better than.
